“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” ― Albert Camus
Hi <<First Name>>,
Winter is the most Yin (dark, cold, feminine) time of year. It’s a time for retreat, introversion and inner work. Nature is slowing down and she is asking us to do the same. This is not the time for strenuous exercise, launching big projects or to work long hours. Focus instead on conserving energy and replenishing your reserves. Adjust your rhythm to that of Winter – earlier to bed, more down time and contemplation.
How do you feel about Winter? If you’re not a fan, you may be pleased to know that this Thursday 21 st June is Winter Solstice (Midwinter/Yule) in the Southern Hemisphere – the shortest day and longest night of the year. It symbolises acknowledgement of the darkness, appreciation of the silence/stillness and going within to explore your own inner light. If you can, make some space on Thursday to explore these themes. The energy of the Winter Solstice is highly conducive to inner work!
One of my favourite things about Winter is rugging up against the cold, slowing down and inner exploration. I also really enjoy taking a Winter ‘stay-cation’ – that is having a week vacation staying at home! I find this time extremely nourishing and a good way to immerse in yoga, meditation and reflection.
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious” – C.G. Jung
Winter is the time of darkness and symbolically represents the shadow. These are the parts of self that are hidden, unconscious and that often we don’t want to see. The shadow can show up as, for example, outbursts of anger, excessive jealously, attention seeking or shutting down/pushing people away when feeling threatened. It can be extremely uncomfortable to see these parts of self or have them pointed out to you. Can you show up for yourself and sit with this discomfort? Do you run, avoid, deny or blame? Shining light on your shadow aspects and investigating your triggers is a powerful way to move to a more healthy, balanced way of being.
Winter is a wonderful to time to focus on your inner world and self growth. Book in for your Winter wellness session. Book your appointment online or get in touch on 0423 493 255.
