In June FY18, USAID added up to $214 million in newly forecasted funding opportunities to the Mission Forecast. Analysis of the larger of these anticipated opportunities is included below. 

Ethiopia is forecasted to receive between $25M-$50M in new opportunities Global Health procurement. This cooperative agreement seeks to improve health financing through the Health Financing Improvement Program.

Mozambique anticipates $25-$50M in a Quality Health Services Initiatives project. This Global Health cooperative agreements aims to support the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) outcomes. This will be achieved by assisting the province of Nampula to establish itself as a model province for improving provision and increasing utilization of high-quality, high-impact, gender-responsive, patient-centered MNCH health services in a sustainable manner and assisting the central Ministry of Health (MOH) to incorporate the lessons learned from Nampula into a national system for Quality Improvement.

Senegal is forecasted to receive $25M-$50M in newly anticipated funding opportunities, including an Agriculture and Food Security procurement titled Resilience and Natural Resource Management. This anticipated award will promote an integrated risk and natural resources management approach to improve water, land, and soils management, climate smart agriculture practices, and pasture reclamation and management to enhance tree cover, soil fertility and erosion control, and improved water access for livestock and crops. The activity will be a center of excellence for RISE II partners on water security and risk management by implementing activities, conducting assessments, and developing tools and approaches. It will invest in drinking water infrastructure in addition to water policy reform and capacity building for communities, and government and private sector providers.

Ghana is anticipating between $10M-$25M for West Africa Municipal WASH. USAID/West Africa seeks to partner with an organization/consortium to work in Benin and Cote d’Ivoire to strengthen the ability of municipal governments and urban water and sanitation service providers to expand, improve, and sustain equitable water and sanitation services through enhanced financial viability, operational reliability and transparency. Working with national and regional institutions, the USAID/West Africa Municipal Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activity shall support city governments and utilities to professionalize services, fill critical needs, and reach unserved populations.
