Hello Pointers!

Interior Architecture had a very busy year indeed! We had two successful accreditation visits. The first in the fall was with the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD); and the second in the spring was with the Council of Interior Design Accreditation. Each helped us confirm that we have an extremely solid program, with our students reaping all the benefits–namely, a very competitive job market position, a highly impressive portfolio of project and design work, at least one internship, if not two, and a general professional disposition. We are very proud to have reached this new milestone!

To that end, eight of our students/alumni and I were published in the Portfolio Design for Interiors by Harold Linton and William Engel.

We will also have a new learning classroom space on the third floor, highlighting a flexible, collaborative and functional furniture layout by Steelcase, a combined technology breakout space, converted from storage, and an open concept for active learning. We are very excited about this new space!

Students worked on many successful projects, throughout the curriculum, including the second annual Ashley Furniture Design Competition, the Huck Residence, a Nelson Hall Renovation (proposal), CPS Dean’s Office art pieces, and many other exciting design projects.

Also, after several years of work, we had an official signing event for our new two-year articulation agreement with Fox Valley Technical College. Thank you for all who made this collaboration possible!

With many changes potentially on the horizon for UW-Stevens Point, we are excited and creatively approaching new ventures and the future with an eye on innovation, collaboration and on continuing to evolve our high quality design curriculum for our students. We cherish our past and bring it into our future.
