Last weekend Fox and Ashburnham competed at the spectacular event that is Dance Showdown 2018, a dance competition at Kensington Town Hall.
Miss Whitford entered her Street dance club (Active Squad) and Miss Blesky entered her Dance Create group (Red Cross Hope).
Both groups came back with their hands full of trophies and prizes galore!
We are really chuffed to announce that Dance Create won first place and Active Squad won 2nd place.
Not only that! Two of our dancers (Martina y4, and Clara y6) were also spotted by the prestigious panel of judges and awarded individual talent awards, winning summer school scholarships for Zoo Nation and Sylvia Young.
We are all really proud of the focus, dedication, and effort put in by all of our amazing dancers and of the courage it took to get over their nerves and excitement and perform in front of an audience of hundreds.
Dance Create won tickets to see the stage rehearsals of The English National Ballets Nutcracker in December and Active Squad won a workshop with the awesome Bodicea (all female hip hop crew).
YEAR OF ENGINEERING - THE HOLIDAYMAKERS
We are taking in part in The Holiday Makers! Look out for a special calendar coming home in book bags in the last week of school to help you keep tabs on exciting weekly science and engineering challenges just for families, brought to you by The Year of Engineering and The Science Museum, Kids Invent Stuff, the RAF and others. Share the fun by posting photos on social media using the #TheHolidayMakers for a chance to win fantastic prizes with every weekly challenge!
Year 2 had a fantastic time this week as we went on not one but two trips! On Tuesday, we visited Holland Park Ecology Centre and went mini beast hunting and pond dipping. We found and identified so many interesting creatures. Then on Thursday we went to Legoland! The day was action packed as we went on lots of rides including a dragon rollercoaster, got splashed on the ‘Pirate Falls’ log flume and watched a pirate show! The children were brilliantly behaved the whole day and represented Fox excellently.

Advanced Table Tennis Team
'The advanced table tennis team have had a great first year of training. The children were total beginners in September but with huge motivation, discipline and hard work they achieved so much especially at the London Schools' League held at the University of East London last spring term. They have all improved and I am very proud of them. I would like to thank each and every child for their commitment in attending their sessions every week.'

Summer Reading Challenge 2018 – Mischief Makers
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Libraries is running the Summer Reading Challenge. This year’s theme is Mischief Makers and there is a full programme of events and activities in all our community libraries.
Children who take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:
Maintain their reading confidence level over the holidays
Boost their confidence and self-esteem
Are more enthusiastic about reading
How it works:
Children must register and sign up at their local library.
They borrow and read at least SIX books during the summer logging them as they go, collecting special stickers and incentives along the way
They can read any library book they choose – story books, fact books, joke books, audio books - they all count
They receive a certificate and medal when they finish
We would like to see how many children can meet this challenge and share their books with their new class teacher on return to school in summer. Feel free to let us know on twitter @foxprimary what you're reading this summer.
Visit http://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ for further information.
Home science experiments
Each week, for the remaining half term, we will include a science experiment you can try at home. Have a go with your children.
FSA UPDATE
SUMMER FAIR SUCCESS!
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who helped make last weekend's summer fair a big success! We braved the heat to enjoy all the great food, drinks, games, crafts, sales and -- most importantly -- the each other's company as a school community. Well done all!
Special thanks (in no particular order) to:
Stefanie Fairholme, Maria Yang and Danelle Roberts for leading the auction and raffle
Polly Ross for her amazing artistic talents with the year group artwork
all the class reps for organising their class stalls
all the individuals who took it upon themselves to conceive of and run a stall of their own
Annabel Andrews for running finance
Tracey Appiah for sorting the music
all the teachers and staff who helped us prepare for the fair and then came out on a weekend to support it -- especially the office staff who dealt with donations, raffle tickets, etc. piling up at their feet and never once grumbled, and all the people who lugged tables, auction boards, etc. to help us set up and clean up
all the families and businesses who donated auction lots, bottles, dishes, books, prizes and more
all the parents (and kids!) who signed up to work the stalls, set up and clean up the fair
As you can see, it takes a massive amount of parent time and effort to pull of a fair. Thank you to all!
