Registration now open - click on linked class titles to register

Baptized for Voting: Being a Citizen and Being a Disciple
The Rev. Dr. Patricia Lyons and distinguished guest speakers, including theologians, politicians, and civil servants
Mondays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., September 10 – November 12, $150

How does being Episcopalian and Anglican inform us as voters? Why and how does the Episcopal Church take positions on “political” issues? How do we, as faithful individuals, live out our baptismal vows at the voting booth? Join thought leaders as they reflect on how faith informs their work. (portions of this course will be livestreamed.) Register here

God Through Many Eyes: Mapping Contemporary Theologies
The Rev. Dr. Larry Goleman
Wednesdays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., September 12 – November 24, $150

Contemporary Christian theology incorporates multiple voices and perspectives: from theologies of spirituality to theologies of social change, and from modern to postmodern approaches. Explore seven distinct families of Christian thought and practice today, including theologies of spirituality, Biblical theologies, narrative theologies, theologies of community, public theologies, theologies of liberation, feminist theologies, and other contextual theologies. Develop your own map through this terrain, and articulate your own approach to contemporary theology. Register here.

“That’s What She Said…”: Biblical Characters in Culture and Art
The Rev. Dr. Judy Fentress-Williams, Peggy Parker (MFA), the Rev. Lisa Smith, Dr. Kathy Staudt, and the Rev. Dr. Bill Roberts
Thursdays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., September 13 – November 15, $150

Dig deeper into Biblical characters, comparing how sacred texts describe them with how cultures have captured them. Explore these characters and their stories through various art forms (theatre, visual arts, music and poetry), guided by faithful artists in each of these fields. Register here.

APPLY NOW TO AUDIT MASTERS-LEVEL COURSES
Applications due August 1

Students interested in taking a graduate level course at VTS this fall (previously called “Enriched" Evening School classes) may apply to audit courses through the “Non-Degree” program. Courses on discipleship, church history, New Testament, Old Testament, and Islam, among other subject areas, are open to continuing education students. The full range of courses is listed here. (Please note it is up to the professor to decide how many non-degree students are admitted to a particular class.)

The application deadline for enrolling in fall classes for continuing education students is August 1 (not June 15, as the website lists). Find information and forms for the application process here. Students who have recently enrolled in “Enriched” Evening School classes should contact Diane Wright for registration instructions.

Scholarships are available for lay continuing education students auditing these classes. Please email Diane Wright, Interim Coordinator for Continuing Education, with any registration or scholarship questions.
