Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this evening, Sunday, July 1st, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street.
Insight that Brings Happiness

"We have to practice in such a way that in our daily life we are able to have insight into the interdependent nature of all beings. Our greatest desire as spiritual practitioners is to discover the essence of things and to be in touch with this essence. When this satisfaction is there, then whether we have very good health or poor health, we can still be happy. Whether we are successful or not successful in our work, whatever it is, we do not suffer. When our happiness is not dependent on our success or our health, we will be less likely to argue with others or make them suffer. Good relationships will be there quite naturally."

Featured Book

The Energy of Prayer introduces several meditation methods that re-envision prayer as an open, inclusive, and accessible practice to create healthy lives through the power of awareness and intention. Thich Nhat Hanh's practice is not about asking an external force for what we need, but rather to create an internal environment in which it is easier to manifest positive outcomes in our lives. To borrow this book, speak with sangha librarian, Anne Graham.
Powerhouse of the Mind

"If there is a change in the individual consciousness, then a change in the collective consciousness will also take place. When there is a change in the collective consciousness, then the situation of the individual can change; the situation of our loved one who is the object of our prayer can change. This is why Buddhists say that everything arises from the mind. Our mind is a creation of the collective consciousness. If we want to have change, we have to return to our mind. Our mind is a center that produces energy. From this powerhouse we call mind, we can change the world. We change it by means of a real energy that we ourselves have created. This is the most effective way of prayer."
