 Advancing Water Reforms through the Open Government Partnership (OGP)

There is a critical need for a Community of Practice around water and open government. With presenters from government and civil society in OGP participating countries where OGP water commitments are being made, we will share experiences in different phases of the National Action Plans (NAPs)-making process: co-creation, implementation, and completion of water commitments.

Integrity Management for Sustainable Water Services

Irregular procurement processes, illegal connections, and collusion of officials are just some of the serious integrity challenges that water sector organizations face daily. These incidents can damage an organization's performance and reputation, and cause damage to water users. This session will cover Integrity Management (IM) Toolbox application to support water organisations around the globe.

From Sector Coordination to Effective National Accountability for SDG 6

It is widely recognised that the SDGs are ambitious, and will require effective collaboration among all stakeholders. In this session, we will showcase ground-breaking global research on national accountability mechanisms on SDG 6 that provide targeted answers to governments, donors and civil society on consulting and involving the main stakeholders.

The Trillion-Dollar Question: Turning Safely Managed Finances into Sustainable Services

How effectively are governments spending water and sanitation budgets? Where are systems vulnerable? How do we manage the trade-offs between domestic and donor accountability? The session will investigate how actors from the water and (public) finance sectors understand the issues. Building on research, case studie,s and an interactive game for mapping corruption risks throughout the public finance cycle and water sector value chain, participants and experts will discuss challenges, good practices, and potential solutions.

Om (O&M) – the Mantra for Sustainable Water/Sanitation Services

Operation and maintenance (O&M) is key to ensure water and sanitation services long-term sustainabiltiy. Successful investments and initiatives often fail if the O&M is not assured from the beginning. In this session, creative and holistic innovative approaches to assure sustainable O&M of water and sanitation services will be presented and discussed. Examples from different countries will show that SDG 6 is at the core of Agenda2030, and linking to SDG 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 and 16.

WIN Partners Meeting

From Multi-stakeholder Dialogue to Action is the theme of this year's annual WIN Partners meeting. WIN Partners will deliberate over three main topics that were selected via survey, and extracted from the subthemes from WIN’s Lessons Learned report, published earlier this year. The meeting will combine sharing experiences with identifying opportunities for collaboration. The topics are:
a) The role of civil society and the media in monitoring and review
b) Integrity assessments and context analysis
c) Working with regulators
Brief presentations will kick off discussions on each topic, before we get down to discussing ways and plans for further collaboration under the theme Multistakeholder Dialogue to Action: Plans for cooperation.
