SAT, APRIL 30: 11th Annual World Tai Chi Day at Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden

Celebrate World Tai Chi Day this Saturday, April 30, at the Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem. Observe and learn about this Chinese martial art that is practiced for both its defense training and health benefits. The event, which takes place from 9am-3:30pm, will include Tai Chi demonstrations, QiGong workshops, Chinese lion and fan dance, musical performances, and arts and crafts for children. Free for kids under 12 years old.

SAT, APRIL 30: ArtsWestchester's Things We Value Collage Workshop for Kids

What do your children value? Let them show you in artwork during our free Things We Value Collage Workshop this Saturday, April 30, from 2-3:30pm at ArtsWestchester. Using crayons, paper and magazine clippings, your kids will create a colorful collage based on things that are of value to them.  The event is made in conjunction with our latest exhibition, The Bank & Trust Show. Meet local Rivertowns artists this weekend (April 30 - May 1) during RiverArts' 2011 Studio Tour! Enjoy a free map-guided tour of private studios and galleries of renowned and emerging painters, potters, photographers, pastel muralists, sculptors, jewelers and mixed media artists. These artists will be on hand to answer questions about their artwork, some of which will be available for purchase. There will also be temporary “pop-up” shows and exhibitions in storefront galleries. Free for all!

SUN, MAY 1: Niji No Kai presents the 12th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival

Walk among the beautiful Cherry Blossom trees of White Plains this Sunday, May 1, during the 12th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival! Enjoy traditional Japanese music and dance, learn the art of Kimono and take a Bamboo and Ikebana workshop. The event, presented by Japanese culture organization Niji No Kai, is free and takes place 12-5pm at Turnure Park at 20 Lake Street.

SUN, MAY 1: Notes for Japan: Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Benefit Concert at the Performing Arts Center

Attend Notes for Japan, a benefit concert this Sunday, May 1, at the Performing Arts Center in Purchase to support the earthquake and tsunami victims of Japan.
The first half of the concert features classical music and the second half will be a mix of jazz, soul, and voice.
