Inclusion, Nerve of Innovation Driven Development 

- 7th UCLG ASPAC Congress -

INCLUSION has been the keyword since representatives of local and regional government networks adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) in New York (September 2015) and also ratification of New Urban Agenda (NUA). The highlight has been the “acknowledgement of the role that cities and sub-national governments need to play in all its dimensions.”

FAECAL SLUDGE MANAGEMENT

Advocate to Replicate Best Practices in Municipalities 

UCLG ASPAC has proceeded the Municipality Network Policy and Advocacy Project to the next level. UCLG ASPAC and MAB visited Jhenaidah, one of municipalities in Bangladesh that has successfully implemented a full cycle of Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) facility from the initial source up to final end product. This visit has given enlightenment to the next step of the Project which reflects to a plan of conducting advocacy to the society and high-level officials.

City Consultation Survey for Global Covenant of Mayors

UCLG ASPAC in collaboration with Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), the international largest coalition of cities and local authorities with shared long-term vision of promoting and supporting voluntary action to combat climate change and move to a low emission, and resilient society, are undertaking a needs assessment to better understand the opportunities and challenges that member cities face in combating climate change.

LOCALISE SDGs: Contribution to Indonesia Local Governments


IN New York, 2015, approximately three years ago, Indonesia signed a global commitment to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030. Mid-2017, around two years later, the country’s commitment was materialised through the official launching of Presidential Regulation No.59/2017, outlining roles of ministries and institutions in making preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the efforts undertaken. Entering 2018, questions about progress in the implementation of SDGs localisation start coming up. How far has the country achieved?

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Partnership with MoHA: A Facility to Enhance Capacity



MID 2017, UCLG ASPAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Indonesia, host country of the Secretariat. The MoU, ever since, has generated various capacity building activities for local governments of the country. The most recent one took form in the Education and Capacity building Training for Firefighting Personnel in six cities in Indonesia arranged within April-October 2018, in close collaboration with Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG). It is a joint training program with MoHA and will be summed up with overseas training activity in Seoul, planned to be held from October 28 to November 4, 2018.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION!

 
WE are conducting a survey of local authorities' to better understand the challenges that member cities face in combating climate change. Preferably, the survey should be completed by the local governments/representatives who are responsible and handle with sustainable development and planning for environmental issue in their each region.
