Sharing Your Stories - Learn How to Podcast

Training Days:
Edinburgh, Tuesday Aug 21st, 10am-4pm
or
Glasgow, Thursday Aug 23rd, 10am-4pm
Follow-Up Session:
Edinburgh, Thursday, Aug 30th, times to be confirmed.

‘Future voices’ is our new participatory podcast project to give voice to community-led climate action. Specifically, it is about giving you the skills and confidence to start using audio as a means of telling the stories of what you and your community are doing to face up to climate change.

Want to be part of this? Please get in touch to explain why, in no more than 250 words. Deadline for applications is 5pm, Friday 20th July.

What could a podcast sound like? Listen to one about this training!

This opportunity is open to community organisations that are members of SCCAN and is delivered together with social enterprise Media Education.

We want this training to be available to any SCCAN member organisation, irrespective of location or funding situation. The training will therefore be FREE and we hope to be able to provide bursaries towards travel costs, particularly for organisations outwith central Scotland. Please get in touch to discuss this. Also, please note that we hope to be able to deliver training in other parts of Scotland over the coming months.

Democracy Matters

Scottish Government and COSLA have jointly launched a Local Governance Review, which will consider how powers, responsibilities and resources are shared across national and local spheres of government, and with communities. As part of this, they are inviting communities to take part in Democracy Matters, a conversation about community decision making. The conversation will take place over a period of six months, ending around November 2018, and is meant to inform new legislation.

You can get involved by answering the questions contained in the consultation document: Democracy Matters - Your Community. Your Ideas. Your Future or by joining the conversation online.

There is also a Democacy Matters: easy-read guide.

Your response should be sent to democracymatters@gov.scot or 'freepost DEMOCRACY MATTERS'.

It is recommended that you hold a community conversation and submit a community response. To help cover any costs associated with running community events you can apply to the Democracy Matters: Community Engagement Fund.

Further guidance to local authorities - allotments

The public consultation on the draft statutory guidance for local authorities relating to certain sections of Part 9 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 – Allotments – is now open.

The consultation can be accessed via link : https://consult.gov.scot/food-and-drink/part-9-allotments/

It closes on Monday 20th August.
