Next Meeting July 10th Like July 2018 Newsletter on Facebook

We will begin taking signups for volunteers to the fair. Current paid members will get priority for for time slots and to sell honey at our booth. You can join or renew online. Come prepared to learn about methods of extracting honey, a quick Randy Oliver video demonstration of a hive inspection and mite wash, as well as a discussion on mite loads after treatments. All starting at 6:30 p.m. at the at the Richland Church of Christ on 933 Thayer Dr.,
The Bees of Summer seminar was a great success that we are already making some rough plans for next year and could use your input on topics, speakers, venue, and date. If you attended the seminar please take three minutes to fill out the survey that was e-mailed to you.

Randy Oliver talked about reading the combs, and what information you can learn just by how your colony places pollen, honey, and brood in the brood box. We had  Dr. Jennifer Han talk about her research in fighting varroa mites with fungus. Dr. Nicholas Naeger wowed us with his knowledge of the many bee viruses out there. Dr Brandon Hopkins explained how caging the queen in a special excluder cage will create a brood break to make mite treatments more effective and easier.

So if you missed it this year, we'll work hard to make a good Bees of Summer Conference available to our membership and local area next year. We hope that all those that attended will pass the word on and invite fellow Beekeepers in the area that could benefit from learning advanced topics in Beekeeping. We hope to see everyone there next year. Thank you for all the support and for all those that attended.
