A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than
the day of birth. (Ecclesiastes 7:1)

From the moment we are born, a clock begins to tick that will, inevitably, cease ticking at some point. Meanwhile, we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, all sorts of things along the way. But how many of us contemplate the final celebration?

Yes, I'm talking about death. My death and your death.

We try and push the thought away for the most part... if you're under 40, maybe even under 50, you have no idea what I'm talking about, or you resent me for bringing up the subject.

I turn 66 on July 14. How about that? You thought I was younger? (Thank you!)  You thought I was older? (Mmmm....) But to the point at hand:

I'm running out of time!

Putting to one side the anticipated joys of heaven, I feel there is so much more for me to do before I “go the way of all the earth.” (1 Kings 2:2)

A few examples.

There is a feature film I wish to make in France to bring the gospel to the French people....

There is a feature film I wish to make here in the USA to give a Christian perspective on the issue of mental illness.....

There is a documentary film I wish to make promoting reconciliation and better understanding between Christians and Muslims....

There are two feature films I wish to make to present the Messiah Jesus to the Jewish people....

And much more...

Will you pray for me?

Giving an account of himself before King Agrippa, Paul was able to say he had not been disobdient to the heavenly vision of turning people "from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by fatih in [Jesus]." (Acts 26:18)

I believe that God spoke to me thirty-five years ago, calling me to make films declaring his glory among the nations of the earth; films presenting the gospel and uniting believers in a common cause. However, I am mindful that while a person might plan his course, it is the Lord who directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9). Jesus put it this way when he compared himself to a vine and his disciples to branches on that vine: "Apart from me you can do nothing."

I close with this tidbit of history. Ingmar Bergman, the great Swedish film director, was born on July 14, 1918. Among his works are The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries.

Ingmar Bergman (1918 – 2007)
Cristóbal Krusen, the little-known missionary filmmaker, was also born on July 14 - in the year 1952.

How much more time?
Cristóbal Krusen (1952 – ?)
