The Good Mews

We just had our best June on record for adoptions and have placed 61 cats into forever homes already this year! That's something to purr about!

Every Cat Deserves a Happy Tale

Rescue is not always cute kittens.

Meet Duckie and Goose, two girls left to fend for themselves on the street. When these gals were brought to Tabby Tales, Duckie had such a severe rodent ulcer her upper lip was grossly enlarged and she was nearly unable to eat. Goose had painful eosinophilic granulomas along her back, which were likely caused by flea allergies. Now they are in a loving foster home, healing beautifully, and beginning to show their sweet and playful personalities. In just a few more weeks they will be ready for adoption. Don't you want to love these adorable girls? We believe they are a mother - daughter pair and are closely bonded, so they will be looking for a forever home together.

Check back soon to follow their story and help Duckie and Goose find their forever home!

Orphaned Kitten Care

Training is key for fosters with the tiniest of kittens in their care.

Tabby Tales has rescued 20 orphaned kittens under 6 weeks of age so far this year, many of which were only days old. Kittens who are too small to eat solid food need lots of special attention. We hold training sessions before the start of each kitten season to make sure our foster parents are up-to-date on how to care for these little ones. These courses cover everything from how much and how often to feed to litter box training and when to wean. We are always looking for new fosters to join the team, so if you are interested, please fill out the foster application at www.tabbytalesrescue.org/foster-volunteer.

Benny flew all the way to Maine! Really!  His foster mom had a friend in Maine who fell in love with Benny and foster dad had a business trip close by, so flew him to Maine for his adoption, safely, in a carrier.

Protect Your Pets

Our pets are more sensitive to loud noises, flashing lights, and strong smells than we are. As we celebrate Independence Day it's best to leave your pets strictly indoors, even if they are usually kept outdoors. If your pet does become lost, contact Chatham County Animal Control and surrounding shelters as well as Lost and Found Pets of Savannah Facebook Page.

SAFETY TIPS FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY
from the Humane Society of the United States
1. Never use fireworks around pets.
2. If your pet is scared of fireworks, talk to your vet about medication and other calming techniques.
3. Protect your pet from heatstroke during summer festivities.
4. Safeguard your pet with a microchip, collar, AND I.D. tags.
