Kids have the best business ideas!
Young Americans Center for Financial Education has offered entrepreneurship camps for kids for the last 23 years, and this year is no exception. But with the addition of three new YouthBiz camps, our Center seems particularly full of creativity this summer!
For example, take Monster Koozies, a creation by Zoe, Wren, and Lillian, that wraps a friendly, furry creature around your drink to keep it cool. Or, Liam's Clip-On-Cleats that turns your ordinary sneakers into the perfect sports shoe.
This summer we are running 30 camps with almost 1,200 youth attending. Even more exciting is these camps take place across the Front Range and in New Mexico.
These fun, hands-on programs encourage kids to be kids. Whether or not these ideas turn into businesses, the real lesson is that doing something you love can reap a large reward.

Fifty-two friends of financial ed for kids are needed, one for each child who applied for a scholarship this summer. Can you fund a partial scholarship ($120)? Or a full scholarship ($240)? Or underwrite all the costs ($500) and qualify for the Colorado Child Care Tax Credit and make your scholarship tax-wise (and bigger than you thought possible!)?

Entrepreneurs of the Month:
Lily, Chloe, and Sophie Warren, Owners of Sweet Bee Sisters
|
|
Lily, Chloe, and Sophie Warren created Sweet Bee Sisters nine years ago as a way to use the leftover beeswax from their family's beehive. After winning the Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars business competition and a youth scholarship from Ernst and Young, the sisters' business has blossomed. Their products were a featured part of Snooze, an A.M. Eatery's Mother's Day promotion and their holiday gifts.
