Welcome to MedNews Spring/Summer 2018 Edition

Dear readers, we welcome you to the Spring & Summer 2018 edition of MedNews, the electronic newsletter of the University of Nicosia Medical School.
 
The launch of the Master of Public Health this Autumn undoubtedly makes the headline for this edition. 
 
Our permanent column ‘Meet the …’ introduces you to the School’s Examinations team. It couldn’t be more …complicated.
 
A new agreement with the University of Baltimore Washington Medical Center provides more clinical opportunities to MBBS students.
 
See you later …crocodile.  Medical School faculty gives a new twist to a current debate concerning a crocodile farm in Cyprus.

MPH to launch this Autumn

 
The newly developed degree of Master of Public Health (MPH), has recently received accreditation from the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (DI.P.A.E.) and will launch in the autumn semester of 2018.  The programme will be delivered through distance learning. 
This achievement demonstrates the School’s commitment to developing high quality programmes as well as to expanding its portfolio of postgraduate degrees.
The MPH is directed by Dr Alexandros Heraclides, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health.  Find more about the programme here

Meet the School’s Examinations team

The University of Nicosia Medical School and the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center sign a clinical training agreement allowing MBBS students to undertake their clinical training in the US. This opportunity is available to students of all nationalities, subject to their ability to secure a visa.

Phase 1 of Pap tests a success



Last February the Mobile Clinic in collaboration with Business Professional Women Cyprus embarked upon a cervical screening programme for some of the remote areas of the country.  Phase one ended on 30 June and so far 300 women have been examined for free.
