July 2018
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
Happy 4th of July! The Lord has been so good! The last month has been busy, but God has been up to so much! Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support, and for taking time to read my newsletters.

Spring Celebration and Baptisms!

What a fitting end to the school year! We got to baptize three international students who came to faith this year! It has been so exciting to see what the Lord has been doing through the international ministry this year and I have been so grateful for the part that I have been able to play in it.

Our SICM Adventure!

What an amazing week! I got to take four students up to Bellingham, WA for the Student Institute of Campus Ministry (SICM)! I loved getting to show them my hometown and introduce them to the pastors that shaped so much of my life in college and during my internship. SICM is a week-long intensive training conference that seeks to train and equip students to reach their campus. The Lord was definitely growing and working in each of their lives, but I think they could probably sum it up better than me, so here's what they had to say:
"Going into SICM, I wasn't expecting it to touch me in the way that it did. Every lecture was full of great things I'll need to know when starting my BIble study on campus this Fall. I received a ton of information and new insight on how to study the Bible as well as facilitating a small group and building good, healthy relationships. All of this plus the daily worship sessions and fellowship at lunch with great people really helped me to experience the Holy Spirit in a much stronger sense than usual. Speaking to students at UW had to have been my favorite moment, as it was my first time practicing making disciples and it made me feel closer to God. SICM was a mental challenge and was exhausting at times, but the growth in my relationship to Christ makes it all worth it."  ~ Collin
" Looking back at SICM, I’m exhausted but also grateful; for the opportunity I got to learn more about what it means to be a disciple in life and in college. I think my biggest takeaway would have to be that this “leadership” thing is really a partnership with God. this makes me feel so much more at ease, and very thankful that I don’t have to do it on my own. I’m excited for this next school year and what I’ll get to do with God!" ~ Joyce
"SICM was a super great experience, definitely a lot to take in but a fantastic time. Everyone in Bellingham was super hospitable and I’d recommend it to everyone even if they aren’t going into leadership." ~ Jacob

I HAVE A CAR!

I feel as though I have spent much of my life hearing about the crazy and unexpected ways that God has provided for people, and while the Lord has definitely always provided for me, there have been specific requests that have seemed a little too "out there" for me. There is often a voice in my mind that says, "Those kinds of things don't happen to me." Well... God has repeatedly proven that to be a lie. When I found out that my current car wasn't going to make it much longer, I felt pressed to ask that God would provide a specific solution. He was going to enable me to do the work he called me to. Being a relatively practical person, while I prayed I also started to work on "more practical" solutions. As you can probably guess, none of those "more practical" solutions worked out and in each instance I sensed the Lord say, "That is not the solution I have for you."

Turns out he had something even better than what I could have imagined! Two generous friends of mine are going to give me a car... FOR FREE! God is so good and I have been so blessed to have such wonderful people on my support team.
God Provided by...

... Giving me a car!

... Doing some awesome work in the lives of the students who went to SICM!

... Placing some good local friends in my life over the past year who have been a great support to me. Whether it's practical needs or relational, the Lord has been providing wonderful friendships for me hear in Eugene.
Please pray that God would...

... Prepare the hearts of the incoming Freshmen who are getting ready to come to the U of O. We're tabling during IntroDUCKtion this summer and so we've already been able to meet some of them!

... Provide me a place to live that can enable me to minister well to the students next Fall!

... Continue to minister to the hearts of the ladies I met with this last year throughout their summer away.

Building up the Team!

While there tends to be a sense of apprehension as one moves into the summer season of support-raising, I have come to appreciate this time as the blessing that it is. I'm able to connect with many of you and each year I feel as though the Lord grows my trust in him as I rely on him to provide. And he has always provided! Another reason that I have come to appreciate support raising, and a primary one at that, is I have had the opportunity to invite so many of you on this mission with me! I cannot express how much it means to me that you have all decided to partner with me in prayer for what God wants to do in the lives of college students, not only at the University of Oregon, but around the world!

I'm excited to be able to invite even more believers to join me on this mission and I could use your help to do it. Please join me in prayer as I seek out new appointments, I'm hoping to connect with 25 new potential supporters this summer! God has placed on my heart the goal of building a budget that will sustain me long-term; because I want to be able to do this for as long as the Lord calls me to it! My minimum goal personal goal is to reach a monthly budget of $2,500/month, that's an increase of $400 in regular monthly gifts. In addition to that, our staff team is looking to collectively raise funds for the general ministry fund and for conferences that take place in the network. This means I'm going to need to raise about $100 more each month for that as well. So this summer I'm working to raise $500/month!

Thank you for your faithful support!
