We've reached a new and exciting phase of the CPMS revision process. Consultations!

Face-to-face and virtual consultations, as well as the online survey, enable a wide range of people to get involved and share their thoughts. How to get involved:

1. Listen to the PHAP/ Alliance webinar on the CPMS revision and next steps.

2. Download and review the draft standards. Ask yourself:

Do the revised standards reflect current practices in your context?
Do you agree with the new approaches and changes made? Is anything important missing?
Is the language clear and accessible?
Are the revised standards relevant in different contexts? e.g. infectious disease outbreak settings, migration and displacement, urban areas…

Share your comments via the online survey and feedback form.

Updates from working groups, task forces and partners

Family Strengthening Task Force recently finalized a scoping review on caregiver psychosocial wellbeing and family violence in humanitarian crises, and an interagency mapping of parenting interventions. The Task Force is also collecting and sharing articles on the latest research on parenting interventions. Community Based Child Protection Task Force
Thanks to a wonderful task team represented by Plan International, World Vision, Terre des hommes and Child Frontiers, the Community Based Child Protection Task Force submitted the second draft of the Community Level Approaches Standard for the CPMS Working Group. The standard was fully reworked. The revision of draft one included synthesizing over 400 comments, revisions from cross-cutting themes such as groups at risk of discrimination, refugees, migrants and child participation. Task Force members will continue contributing to Draft 2. It will also be translated in multiple languages and shared with countries for consultation. We expect the comments in September and will work to develop a third draft from their inputs!

Child Labour Task Force

On behalf of the Task Force, Plan International travelled to Turkey from 21-25 May to roll out sector-specific guidance and tools for child protection, education and private sector actors, developed in collaboration with UNICEF Turkey. By October 2018, the Child Labour Task Force will launch the piloted and finalized Child Labour in Emergencies toolkit. Over the summer, all key guidance and tools will be reviewed by Child Protection, Education and Economic Strengthening experts. Would you like to participate? How do you plan to take part?

Yesica Landinez, Child Protection Specialist with CID Colombia and Spanish-speaking Help Desk for the Child Protection AoR tells us about her plans to engage with the CPMS revision process.

"CID will hold consultations on the draft CPMS in Colombia. We are working in partnership with UNICEF and the Protection Cluster, but we hope to engage as wide a range of stakeholders as possible: local and national NGOs, faith-based organisations, UN agencies and government representatives."

"Since we won't have time to discuss all the standards, CID will send a pre-consultation questionnaire to all our participants to get a clearer idea of their background and experience with the CPMS, and to prioritize 5 standards (...) Then we'll hold an informational webinar to brief all participants on the process: what we hope to achieve and how the CPMS revision process has been structured so far. We'll also go into some detail on the 5 selected standards, and raise some potentially controversial issues to consider".

"Then we'll hold the face-to-face consultations. In three departments -- Nariño, Chocó and Putumayo -- CID will organize full-day discussion workshops with local child protection workers and frontline responders. At the country level, the Protection Cluster will hold a 3-day consultation with government staff and representatives of national NGOs".

"The CPMS Working Group continues to support us with the practical organization of the consultations: from drafting the agenda, to suggesting ice breakers and group work, template PowerPoints and feedback forms. We can't wait to get started!"
