IIPP is having an impact at the highest levels of government. Our commission for Mission-Oriented Innovation and Industrial Strategy (MOIIS) received praise and recognition from UK Prime Minister Theresa May as she launched the Government’s four strategic missions in May. MOIIS, which uses mission-oriented thinking to transform the Grand Challenges outlined in the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy into tangible 'missions', is a panel of leading experts on major societal challenges. It is based on the work we have done for the EU on defining a mission-oriented approach to innovation policy. We also brought together an international line-up of experts in an event at the UK Parliament to create a more direct dialogue between the Government’s Patient Capital Review and its Industrial Strategy—through the framework of IIPP’s mission-oriented approach.
I’m also delighted to announce that IIPP has joined forces with the Rockefeller Foundation to work with our Mission-Oriented Innovation Network (MOIN), and support our broader aim to provide the public sector with a more dynamic toolkit based on the shaping and co-creating of markets—not only fixing. The Rockefeller Foundation will be funding two new MOIN-related positions at IIPP that will play an important role in creating a cutting-edge blue print for the future of policy making. Please do circulate the news to any potential applicants, and you can find out more here.
