Animal Medical Center of Seattle Fall Newsletter

Animal Medical Center of Seattle is dedicated to the needs of our veterinary community and our clients.

Animal Medical Center of Seattle is a privately owned, specialty and emergency veterinary hospital. Our goal is to assist our veterinary community in the treatment of patients, when advanced medicine, diagnosis or emergency care is required. We work closely with referring veterinarians to assess the pet’s needs and provide specialized treatment, when necessary.

We value the relationships we have with our referral veterinarians and recognize the vital role they play in the patient’s treatment and final outcome. Our top priority is working with a pet’s primary veterinarian and family to provide excellent, coordinated and compassionate medicine.

Animal Medical Center of Seattle understands the importance of the relationship between clients and their primary veterinarians. After treatment at our hospital, pets will return to the care of their regular veterinarian for continued medical needs.

Interventional Radiology (IR) is a standard of care in human medicine for many conditions previously treated with surgery. Today, the Animal Medical Center of Seattle (AMCS) is leading the charge in the Pacific Northwest in the use of IR for animals. Our world-class procedures are led by experienced Board Certified Internists and Oncologists to treat diseases of the heart, kidneys, urinary tract, respiratory tract, liver, and many forms of cancer – all with shorter anesthesia time, less pain, and a quicker recovery time compared with conventional techniques.

Interventional Radiology treatment and care at the Animal Medical Center of Seattle (AMCS) includes:

Stem cell therapy for renal and hepatic disease, stenting of the respiratory and urinary tracts, chemoembolization of non-resectable tumors (hepatic and prostate), treatments for urinary tract obstructions, laser ablation for ectopic ureters, coil embolization of intrahepatic liver shunts, laser ablation of lower urinary tract cancers and percutaneous cystolithotomy for bladder stone removal.

The internal medicine service at Animal Medical Center of Seattle uses laser therapy in treating some of our chronic inflammatory condition cases.

The first time we used our laser was on the recovery of a patient that was failing treatments for Inflammatory bowel disease and protein-losing nephropathy. We decided to add laser therapy to treat him and he steadily improved and started gaining weight. Since this time we have incorporated laser treatment instead of a rescue protocol and are having great success in certain cases.

One of our current patients receiving laser treatments for the treatment of Protein Losing Enteropathy is no longer pacing at night time and her stools are more formed. We will be checking a chemistry profile to see how her protein levels are responding to laser treatment.

If you have any questions on this treatment modality or have a case which you think might be a candidate, please feel free to contact our Internal Medicine service!

Meet Dr. Branter

Dr. Erinne Branter and Dr. Tanya Donovan will be working together to establish Interventional Radiology, Interventional Endoscopy and Urology services at the Animal Medical Center of Seattle.

Interventional Radiology (IR) utilizes contemporary imaging modalities (CT scans, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography) and can be applied to any body system for your patients. IR procedures are generally associated with better patient outcomes, minimal anesthesia time and reduced hospital stays.

AMCS utilizes Interventional Radiology, often in conjunction with endoscopy, to treat and diagnose a wide variety of issues. Please contact our IM department to learn how IR services can benefit your patients!
