Lazy River Embroidery Trio

Lazy Summer Days...

June is almost over and we're deep into summer now. I just finished a huge annual deadline at my day job this week, and as a reward, I'm using my hoard of vacation days to take off Fridays in July and August to spend time summering with the family. There will be swimsuits and sunscreen and big hats a-aplenty.

I don't know if river-tubing will be on the docket for us this summer, but even if I can't float down a lazy river for real, I can let my newly released trio of relaxing beauties serve as my proxies. Whether your summer looks to be lazy or chock full, they can provide with a excuse for slow, quiet stitching. Pick your favorite floater, or get all three for 20% off - whichever you choose, each kit comes with a range of three skin tones and five hair colors to personalize the design.

Looking for the lemonade and wishing you a happy handmade,

Leah

P.S. - Did you know that I sell supplies (like adorable, wearable mini embroidery hoops)? Check out the shop for a curated selection of some of my favorite tools for stitching!

Cooking from a CSA

This year I signed up for a farmshare (or Community Supported Agriculture) from Crystal Spring Farm, which means I get a box of farm fresh goodies once a week. It's definitely upped my family's veggie intake and introduced us to some new flavors, as I've vowed to try everything that comes in the box, whether I recognize it or not.

My first new-to-me veggie was kohlrabi - an unusual-looking member of the broccoli family and my family is loving this Kohlrabi, Apple and Walnut slaw, which is a sweet and crisp companion to your summer meals and is a great pairing with pork of all kinds.

Check out the recipe on the blog!

Daunted by Colorwork?

love knitting colorwork. There's something about making little pictures appear that is so addictive - you just want to keep going until the next motif is finished! But, for the uninitiated, colorwork can be quite intimidating. How do I choose the right colors? Why does it make my gauge all weird and pucker-y??  What do I do with all these ends?!!

Check out my latest tutorial for some tips and tricks for colorwork success.

Meet The Mix!

Brunswick has one of Maine's best downtowns for shopping and The Mix is a charming store on a charming street.  It may seem small from the outside, but it's cock-full of quality art supplies, great gifts, and now Ms. Cleaver embroidery and knitting kits! Stop on by and tell them Ms. Cleaver sent you ;)

You can see the whole list of stockists here. Is your favorite yarn/fabric/craft shop missing? Let me know and I'll reach out!
