Founded by Rochester's Top Leaders to Develop, Inform, and Connect Leaders
Founded in 1991 by Rochester's top business, government, education, and non-profit organizations, Leadership Rochester brings together a diverse group of self-motivated professionals and executives who are charged with supporting and guiding the future of the Greater Rochester community. The LR program is planned and executed by LR alumni and local leaders who are committed to providing transformative leadership education that will strengthen our community.
Diverse Cohort Classes Develop Strong Connections
LR Class participants are professionals who work across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. They come from diverse backgrounds and locations. The LR experience brings these individuals together for an impactful cohort education journey enhanced by the diverse expertise of the class members themselves. Today, there are more approximately 1000 LR alumni serving in leadership roles across our region.
Hear Directly from Local Leaders and Experts
Leadership Rochester provides participants with an unparalleled look at our community issues. Each program day, participants meet hear from local business, government, community leaders, and local experts, who are addressing challenges, and strengthening our community. The program runs September through May. Members meet monthly for a full day and explore topics such as the education system, public safety, health systems, business and economic development and more.
Unique Experiential Education
As key component of the program is that LR Participants are given the opportunity to visit on-site with leading service providers, businesses, and government organizations to experience their environment first hand. Some examples include: Participation in a ride-along with local police departments, touring and serving and local homeless service agencies, touring local business with their executives, visiting the NYS court in session, meeting with judges, and more.
Network and Connections
In addition to hearing and meeting with many local leaders, Leadership Rochester class members develop strong connections during their program experience that last long into the future. In addition, LR Alumni help shape the LR programs going forward by helping to lead and shape the program experiences for future classes. After completion of the program, LR graduates will also have the opportunity become connected with other Leadership Rochester alumni through program volunteerism and networking events.
