Let's celebrate - Atmosphere Resort turns 10 in November!
In November this year, Atmosphere Resorts & Spa celebrates 10 years since our opening in 2008. We are proud and excited that Atmosphere has grown so much over this decade and is fast becoming one of the most popular boutique resorts in Asia. We will take this excellent opportunity to celebrate with a weekend of festivities, nostalgia, surprises and fabulous wining and dining on November 30 and December 1.

New speedboat – a very warm welcome to Kay
We are excited to present to you the newest addition to our fleet – our new speedboat Kay. Very similar to Eve, our trusted 10 meter/30 feet speedboat, she can take up to 10 divers passengers to any of the dive sites along the Dauin coast within 15 minutes. With some added luxuries such as plush cushioned seats, we think that she perfectly fits the Atmosphere Fleet!

Marinelife
Frogfish - the season is still ongoing
As we are well into the summer, we see new marine life taking over the reefs and sandy areas along the Dauin coast. Pipefish are still everywhere, as are flamboyant cuttlefish and mantis shrimps, many of them with eggs. However, Frogfish season is not yet finished with frogfish of all sizes still present on most dive sites. Here are a few babies photographed the past couple of weeks by our marine biologist Daniel Geary. Enjoy!

Take 3 for the sea
Help us keep our shoreline trash-free
On June 8 - World Oceans Day - Atmosphere inaugurated our new trash collecting and recycling station by the beach, using the simple but powerful message “Take 3 for the Sea” , spreading the worldwide message that if each individual picks up 3 pieces of rubbish from the beach, we can all make a difference. As much as we keep our beach front clean, we can't control the amount of debris that floats ashore along our coastline with currents and tides. We are hoping that guests and staff alike will help out keeping the whole coastline clean. Using our gloves and buckets and disposing of the trash will help – and if you pick up a whole bucket, a complimentary buko (coconut) juice awaits you in the bar.

Wellness
Our awarded fitness instructors!
We have long been proud of our friendly and experienced Fitness staff - but this month Joel and Louie have outdone themselves to our great delight. Louie is our mountain bike guide with many years of competitive cycling under his belt and we are proud to say that he won an enduring 25km uphill bike race in the elite category. The race was held on 16th June and he was in fierce competition with 20 other cyclists. Joel, our Personal Trainer, took part in a grueling Spartan race on June 16 in Cebu, where he and his team mate completed the race in 2 hours and scored themselves 6th and 7th place. Massive congratulations to Louie and Joel!

Live-aboard trips
Among sharks and manta rays in Tubbataha national park
Each year, the Atmosphere team charters a live-aboard from the Siren Fleet to a destination that we think our previous Atmosphere guests would enjoy. This May, the Atmosphere team with Ulrika Kroon, Adam Detre and Saila Kitola hosted a trip onboard the S/Y Philippine Siren to Tubbataha, a famous remote marine park in the Sulu Sea. They had a wonderful trip and look forward to returning to Tubbataha in April of 2020. Contact us if you would like to join – we also have a trip to Palau in May 2019 on the schedule.

New local products in Atmosphere's Boutique
We try to support local design and produce at Atmosphere Resort and that also goes for our Boutique, where we sell mostly products made in the Philippines and when possible, here in the Dumaguete area. We sell t-shirts hand-printed here in Dumaguete, we sell food produce by local orphanage Bata ng Calabnugan, we sell the amazing recycled jewelry of Lumago Designs, bags by negros-based Lalee and so much more. Here are some of the latest products you can find at Atmosphere and take home with you.

PADI Courses
A record-breaking season for Frogfish courses with Daniel
PADI Specialty courses are a great way to learn specific scuba skills and when Atmosphere's marine biologist Daniel Geary suggested that he writes his own PADI distinctive specialty course, we knew immediately what it was going to be about. Being an avid fan of frogfish, Daniel wrote the Frogfish Specialist course - and after PADI's approval, it has proven to be a very successful course, in part because of Daniel's passion for this quirky fish.
Daniel has certified 56 Frogfish Specialists up to today and - unsurprisingly - the course is even more popular during frogfish season. Between April and June this year, as many as 18 Frogfish Specialists were cerified!

PADI Instructor Development
It’s that time again… 7 new PADI Instructors at Atmosphere
Time flies for Instructor Development Philippines and in May, we saw our third batch this year of new instructors through their PADI IDC and IE already. The Instructor Examination was held in Atmosphere Resort and PADI Examiner George Wegmann kept all candidates calm despite lots of nerves.
We are excited that all 7 candidates received their well-deserved diplomas and Britt – who had to jet off to Australia before the examinations, did us proud by passing hers in much colder water than she was used to! Huge congratulations to Julie, Cody, Jack, Manu, Sarah Lynne, Britt and Yeon!
The next IDC with Instructor Development Philippines begins on June 1 with 15 candidates. We are very excited!

The Master of rare and beautiful nudibranchs
This is not the first visit at Atmosphere Resort for Henrik and Agnieszka Gram Rasmussen, who have been living in Dubai for the past few years. Each time Henrik leaves us, he also leaves us a set of stunningly beautiful underwater photos and we are very proud to be able to display them for you all to see. With a particular love for nudibranchs, Henrik seems to find ones that most of us have never even seen! We look forward to the next visit already.

Study of Visitors to Negros Oriental
Atmosphere Resorts is participating in a study of visitors to Negros Oriental conducted by the Provincial Tourism Unit. Negros Oriental is developing a new Strategic Tourism Plan to guide future tourism actions that directly address visitors’ needs.
In turn, better and preferred tourism products will be provided, supporting services enhanced, and transportation infrastructure improved. If you have visited Negros and have five minutes to fil in the survey, you have the opportunity to enter into a draw by the Province for 10,000 Pesos cash and two Cebu Pacific airline tickets.
