GYA Activities
Working Group, Incubator and Flagship Project Highlights
Videos available from Trust in (Young) Scientists incubator
Many people wonder why they should trust science these days. During our 2018 Annual General Meeting, a number of GYA members and the
Trust in (Young) Scientists Incubator attempted to answer this question for filmmaker Nerina Finetto, of
www.tracesdreams.com. The resulting videos, which attempt to open up the ‘black box’ of science to a broader audience, are
available on our YouTube channel here.
Open Science Policy Platform recommendations
The GYA working group on
Open Science, and in particular GYA alumna
Sabina Leonelli (UK), have been involved in redacting the recently published final recommendations by the
Open Science Policy Platform of the European Commission. The document will serve as an important step for Open Science policies within the European Union in coming years. The recommendations can be accessed
here.
Scientific Excellence working group
GYA alumnus
Muhammad Manjurul Karim (Bangladesh) is currently conducting research into the increasing trend of having an increased number of authors in multi-authored papers. This often results in an unfair distribution of credits among the authors. One possible way to minimise this concern is to categorise the authors and specify their roles in the production of a paper. Muhammad and his colleagues are interested to learn your opinion on this topic through a short (3-4 minute) online survey, available
here.
