Just Released! Payer Coverage Priorities

The SCTA continues to engage insurance payers to show the benefits of telehealth for additional coverages. Partners collaborated to update the list of unified priorities.  These priorities are being addressed with the payers through multiple efforts led by the Reimbursement Workgroup. See priorities.

Dr. Connie Guille champions the Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health (WRBH) program. In 2016 with support from the Duke Endowment, the WRBH telemedicine program began providing treatment for pregnant women with opioid use disorder in obstetric practices in SC. The program has expanded to include the treatment of maternal mental health problems in pregnant and postpartum women. Since late June 2017, WRBH providers have conducted over 200 teleconsults to program-specific partner sites. In Summer 2018 WRBH will also be offered as part of MUSC's Virtual Tele Consult (VTC) program at select clinics.

MUSC Telehealth Leaders Publish New Report

Background and Introduction: Telehealth is a promising approach to improving healthcare access and quality. While coverage for telehealth has expanded, reimbursement remains one of the biggest barriers to provider adoption. Thirty-four states and the District of Columbia have enacted parity legislation requiring private insurance companies to provide some level of reimbursement coverage for telehealth services. View findings.
Imagine having to walk over 120 miles before you could receive health care. Once you get there, you are told there is no doctor available. This would seem highly improbable for someone living in the United States, but it is quite common in places like Uganda.
