Dear LFCN Family,

Freedom is a word that we often associate with America, and it's something we celebrate every July 4th. But freedom is also a word that is dear to the heart of God. Hear these wise words about God's view of freedom, from Richard Rohr:

"God allows and respects the freedom of creatures, even to the point of allowing rebellion and blasphemy against God! Inner freedom is a prerequisite for all virtue, just as it is of sin. This is God's great risk---and God takes it---refusing to use dominative power to force his will, even in the presence of evil. This is really quite amazing, humble, and patient of God."

This Sunday

On Sunday we will continue learnign from the back stories behind the Psalms in our "My Life Story" series. This week we will focus on one of the most famous pieces of literature in the entire bible - the 23rd Psalm. The entire Psalm, written by David, is full of memorable lines and beautiful word pictures like "you (God) prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies." The image is powerful: God's companionship transforms the place of hostility and fear into the place of feasting and celebration. Join us as we gather this Sunday in the presence of our God who transforms every situation.

Stay With Us This Summer

Summer, for many of us, is the season where we finally have the opportunity to travel with our family. While you're resting, playing, celebrating, and enjoying the season, we want to help you stay connected to what is happening at First Church of the Nazarene. If you haven't already, take advantage of the following opportunities for connection: sign up to receive a weekly email, connect with LFCN on Facebook, check out our Community Blog (subscribe), view our Flickr photo page, and listen to or download current and past sermons. And if you missed anything, don't hesitate to call or email.

Picnic @ The Park

Following the Morning Worship Gathering on Sunday, July 31, everyone is invited to Happy Hollow Park for a picnic. Bring a lunch for yourself and your family as well as lawn chairs or a picnic blanket and enjoy eating, relaxing and playing together as a church family. This gathering is not just for nuclear families. It is open to the entire churfh family and even to your friends who aren't yet a part. Family Park Sunday's will be held the last Sunday of the month in July, August, and September.

I'm looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

You're loved,

Pastor Troy
