Creating a List

Is there functionality in the MailChimp API to create a list? There is
a campaignCreate method, but no listCreate method.

Sorry, no, there is no way to create a List via the API.

It has been purposely excluded and we currently have no intentions of
allowing that.

Discouraging spammers is definitely the top reason. It also,
hopefully, encourages people to use fewer lists and use segmentation,
which in turn promotes cleaner, better performing lists.

@Sam - there's no list of things missing. The three big ones I know of
are:
* the lack of full, proper support for creating & editing
Autoresponders
* ability to update content on Transactional campaigns once they've
sent
* full support for our Merge Var data types in the add/delete methods
in the API

So how does one create mailing lists then? Do lists have to be
manually created through the mailchimp web interface?

Yes - and, trying not to sound nasty about it, but as with any app
API, I'd highly recommend that you get at least nominally familiar
with using the full app before attacking the API, especially if you
are doing more than implementing a basic subscribe call.

Then how does system works. If i want to create 10 campaign via api
and send then via api. Do I have to manually create the list first for
them ? Because if i would use this api i will want to create 100's and
1000's of campaign via api. And every campaign will have a different
list.

Can you tell me what will be the best way to accomplish this task ?

Yes, all lists must be manually created via the web interface for our
app.

First, I'd suggest reading our article on List Management since what
you are suggesting doing is generally considered a very bad practice.

segmentation:

Segmentation is available via the API when using campaignCreate():

I'd also recommend that you work with all of that information via the
app first, and then transition to the API once you have a good feel
for how those things work.
