AEX Lights Up the Night

New south and north ramp lighting for AEX is now fully operational. The much more effective and efficient lighting improves night time operations and safety with the proper illumination of aircraft working areas. With the new lighting operational, AEX is ready to meet the needs of any aviation customer performing night operations. This capacity is especially important in supporting natural disaster emergency operations. In addition, the efficiency of the new lighting instruments will lighten the load on the Airpark budget. This project was funded by the Louisiana Department of Transportation Aviation Trust Fund. The ATF is funded by fees on the sale of aviation fuel in the State of Louisiana and invested in improving Louisiana Airport Infrastructure.

England Authority Board Authorizes Execution of Final Deeds to Accept Property Ownership from Air Force

Twenty years after the vote to close England Air Force Base, the Board of Commissioners cast a historic vote authorizing the execution of the final deeds transferring property from the United States Air Force to the England Economic and Industrial Development District. With the execution of these deeds, England Airpark now owns all land formerly controlled by England Air Force Base. The effort by this community to acquire this land has been written and talked about from the Wall Street Journal to the Pentagon. The England Authority was the first Local Redevelopment Agency in the country to receive through public benefit transfer virtually 100% of the former base. The historic nature of this action will be commemorated at a ceremony to be held at a later date. The England Authority would like to thank the Central Louisiana community for its patience and perseverance that made this historic action possible.

England Airpark Completes Industrial Park Expansion

The England Authority has recently completed a $1.5 million project to develop 35 acres located adjacent to Union Tank Car for heavy industrial business activity. The project has brought an industrial street, water, sewer, and gas to the site for a shovel ready facility. England Airpark looks forward to marketing this new asset for our community with the goal to bring additional jobs and economic prosperity to our area. The Airpark would like to thank the Louisiana Department of Economic Development and the City of Alexandria for their help and cooperation in this project.
