Gothic Journal brings you the latest news and links to help keep you in romantic suspense.

White Rose Launches Gothic Romance Line

White Rose Publishing is launching a line of Christian Gothic Romance (TM) novels featuring stories that resemble the genre of such authors as Victoria Holt, Barbara Michaels, Mary Stewart, Isabelle Holland and Phyllis A. Whitney, but with mainstream Christian theology intact. Stories can be contemporary or historical. There must be a supernatural element, there must be a Christian theme, and there must be a happily-ever-after ending. Their editorial guidelines for this new line are worth a look.

The publisher's website does not reflect the new line yet, as it has only two titles in the line at this time, one historical and one contemporary. Both are short stories: Into the Grae and Snow Blind. The publisher said in late August, "We are hoping to have more soon."

How to Undress a Victorian Lady

Ever wonder what was under all those hoop skirts worn in the 1860s? Deeanne Gist gave a presentation at the 2011 Romance Writers of America annual conference that illustrated this mystery in great detail. Check out the full story and video for the inside scoop on the hoop.

Romance at Random House

The Random House Publishing Group is bringing back the romance line Loveswept as a transatlantic digital-exclusive imprint, along with a new romance site: http://romanceatrandom.com. The website has sections devoted to romantic suspense and paranormal romance news.

Borders to Close All Bookstores

Odyl Launches Facebook Platform for Authors, Publishers

A new project is underway to help publishers and authors maximize their interaction on Facebook. Odyl is officially rolling out a platform that will help them do so on a much larger scale. Aside from pulling reviews from Goodreads, administering galley giveaways, and making book excerpts available to users who "like" Facebook pages, Odyl says its platform "collects rich audience data specific to titles and readers, providing an invaluable resource for understanding and growing a loyal following." Odyl has worked on Facebook campaigns for Suze Orman, Janet Evanovich and other authors from five of the six largest publishing houses so far. Here's the link to the Odyl announcement blog:  http://odyl.net/blog/
