On Essex Mums this month
I'm sure many of you are counting down the days until the start of school for your kids this week. If they are returning to school this may be with relief or with sadness that the holidays have come to an end, but if, like me, your (far too) little ones are starting Reception in a few days, it's probably with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation! When did they get so big?

Starting School
Whether it's nursery, primary or secondary, we parents can all do with a bit of support when it comes to sending our kids off to start school. You  might find it useful to come and talk about it in the forum, whether it's to see if anyone else has kids at the same school or to ask for first day tips in our Education section, or to just chat about how things are going, you're sure to find other parents going through the same range of experiences. You might also want to check out the brand new (and as of yet unused!) School Uniform Shop where you can buy and sell used school uniform to save a few pennies!

Classes and Groups
Regular classes and Parent and Toddler Groups are starting up again over the next week or so, so check out the Things to Do section if you fancy doing something with your little ones. If you're spoilt for choice and can't decide which you'd like to do, you can find forum posts about each of the activities by clicking on their link and are welcome to ask for opinions from others to help you make up your mind. Many groups offer a trial or taster session for free so that you can make up your mind before committing to an activity.

For those of you who run groups and classes, you're welcome to post any changes or new times on the forum, or send them over to me at louise@essexmums.org

Advice from Professionals
We have a useful new section on Essex Mums called Ask the Solicitor. We have two solicitors from Leonard Gray LLP who are happy to respond to any legal questions or concerns you have with their professional opinion and advice. Whether it concerns a family situation, something regarding neighbours or just where you stand on particular issue, they will do their best to give you sound and honest advice, which will hopefully help you decide what you need to do next.

This runs alongside our already popular Ask the Midwife section, where you can get expert advice from Lorraine from Birth Affinity about your pregnancy worries and concerns. It would be wonderful to have more sections like this in the future so if there's anyone out there who feels their professional advice could be useful to our members (health visitors and teachers would be a wonderful start!) then please do get in touch!

Ads and Directory
I'm still offering free Directory listings on the site so please send over your details if you are a local business wanting to be listed, or pass it on to anyone you know who should have a place on here. I'm also offering discounts on ads for Autum and Winter, including 10% off anything if you quote 'newsletter' when you email me. Contact louise@essexmums.org for a rate card or just to discuss your options.

Product Reviews
We have an exciting new section on the site - Product Reviews! I've put together a crack team of Essex Mums with kids of all ages to test products and give you their honest opinions on them so that you can see what's worth buying and what's worth avoiding without parting with your hard earned cash. You can see a bit about each of our reviewers here, or can go straight to the reviews here. I thought it would also be nice to include a list of what's been reviewed each month here so that it's easy to see what's new. If you  have something you would like to be reviewed, just let me know!

New on the Shopping Guide
The Shopping Guide features both a shop listing and a product listing to help you find that perfect gift, whether it's for someone else, or for yourself! The guide features lots of lovely products that are a bit different to what you'll find on the High Street, and new products are being added all the time. Take a look! If you are interested in being featured, please let me know. Next month I'll be starting to think about the Christmas guide so if you would like to be a part of that (starting at just £5 for an ad) get in touch for more details.

I hope you have a lovely month and that I'll get to see you at a meet-up soon.
