DawBell News!

This week sees Leona Lewis return to her hometown of London preceding the release of her new single 'Collide'. Following the video premiere of 'Collide' last week, we'll see Leona perform on the first episode of Red Or Black this Saturday night on ITV1; she'll then head straight to G.A.Y for a late-night performance.

Following on from this weekend, have you, like us, cried slightly at the thought of festival season slowly drawing to a close? Well, it's time to shake off those post-bank holiday blues and re-live it all again from the warm and (hopefully) dry comfort of your own chair. Check out the Reading highlights featuring stomping performances from The Kills, Two Door Cinema Club and the slightly-less-stomping-more-relaxing Benjamin Francis Leftwich; plus check out this photo of Mona's set, taken from side-of-stage - the expanded NME/Radio 1 tent was rammed!

So now it is almost September and next week we have a trio of releases from the DawBell ranks: the afforementioned new single 'Collide' from Leona Lewis; the new EP 'Standing Where You Left Me' from The Kixx and Benjamin Francis Leftwich's new single, 'Atlas Hands'.

Last but not least, we are excited to introduce a new act to our roster - The Golden Filter; effortlessly cool and endlessly creative - we'll have more information for you soon!

  Paul McCartney

The Annual Toronto Film Festival which takes place every September in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. Founded in 1976 the Toronto Film Festival is where film companies go to start the Oscar buzz. This year Paul will be involved with not one but two films getting their previews at the festival, now in its 36th year. First is the forthcoming 'The Love We Make' documentary, which chronicles Paul's cathartic journey through New York City in the aftermath of 9/11. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the terror attacks, the film will be shown on Showtime in the US on September 10th after its screening at the festival. The Second to get a screening is the special 'Blue Sway' video which was included as an extra on the recent McCartney II reissue which was directed by Paul and Jack McCoy, one of the world's premier surf film makers. Jack's life work has been film making and shooting the surf. Earlier this year Paul and Jack's 'Blue Sway' video won the 'Best Music Video' Award at the NYC BE FILM Short Festival. For all enquiries contact Stuart Bell.

  Nirvana

‘Nevermind’ received unequivocal praise when originally released back in 1991, I know we can't believe it's been that long either! This September Universal Music celebrates its 20th anniversary with the released of a Super Deluxe Edition with never before heard tracks, b-sides, BBC radio appearances, rare live recordings and unreleased live footage; this will be released on a CD/DVD format on September 26th.  It includes their anthem ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and the monumental video, which went on to become landmarks of the 90s.  Also to celebrate this landmark release, The Loading Bay Gallery in London’s Brick Lane will be hosting a Nirvana Exhibition. The exhibition will highlight the unique relationship the band enjoyed with their UK fans and will display an abundance of professional photographs, band memorabilia and other treasured artefacts. The Exhibition will run for two weeks from September 13th – September 26th. For all enquiries please contact Andy Bell or Maria Barham.

  Leona Lewis

Leona hits London town this week to promote her brand new single 'Collide'. Visiting various radio stations throughout the week, Leona will then appear on the first episode of Red Or Black on Saturday night on ITV1. She'll then head straight to G.A.Y to perform a late-night set. The video for 'Collide' premiered online at the weekend - shot on a beautiful Malibu beach. Keep your eyes peeled for intimate studio footage coming very soon! For all enquiries contact Stuart Bell and for online, Holly Appleton.

  Freddie For A Day

As one of the definitive rock icons of our age, the legendary Freddie Mercury’s extraordinary talents and influence are still felt in the entertainment world. September 5th 2011 would have been Freddie’s 65th birthday. To mark the occasion, family, friends, guests and celebrities from the world over will come together for a suitably lavish auction night at the Savoy, London. All funds raised will be for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an AIDS charity established in Freddie's name by Queen and their manager Jim Beach. Items being auctioned include a bespoke Freddie Lotus Evora "S", a unique Raymond Weil watch and a chance to appear in the hit musical 'We Will Rock You'.
The birthday event acts as the focal point in the worldwide ‘Freddie For A Day’ campaign. Help support and ‘Freddie Yourself’. For more information on how to support Freddie For A Day and The Mercury Phoenix Trust check out www.freddieforaday.com or contact Laura Sinclair.

  Kelly Rowland

Another week, another great show and Kelly proved to be a huge hit with contestant Derry Mensah who confessed his love for her during last Saturday's show before he had even sung his audition piece. Messages of support for Kelly stormed through Twitter this weekend as the show aired -  she's settling into her role tremendously and we can't wait for the live shows to start. So many more amazing things to come so make sure you stay tuned. For those of you who missed Derry's amazing audition check it out here. Make sure you watch this Saturday on ITV at 8pm. For all enquiries please contact Laura Sinclair.

  Gary Barlow

We announced last week that Gary Barlow has been working with Labrinth to put together the cream of the UK's urban talent for the new BBC Children in Need 2011 record. The group (still yet to be given a name) consisting of Wretch 32, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Ed Sheeran, Ms Dynamite, Tulisa, Rizzle Kicks, Mz Bratt and Dot Rotten have recorded their own reinterpretation of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' which has been produced by Labrinth. The single will be released through Island Records on November 13th. Gary Barlow graced our screens again this weekend in his role as the new head judge on The X Factor. The show pulled in another impressive night of audience viewing figures on Saturday; from 8.00pm to 9.15pm the show was watched by an average of 10.6 million (10.1 million excluding ITV1+1), 45 percent share) - up on the 9.8 million audience for last year's second show, and the highest ever at this point in the series. For all enquiries contact Stuart Bell.

Last week Ronan appeared on the Daybreak sofa to chat about his forthcoming swim of the Irish Channel as part of The Swim - a unique celebrity relay team challenge, tackling the treacherous Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin to raise £1 million for Cancer Research UK.   Two Door Cinema Club

Following on from Glastonury this year, Kev, Sam and Alex played to one of their biggest UK crowds last weekend, when they performed on the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds. Their full performance is up on the BBC website now - take a look, the crowd is ridiculous! Bye bye for now Two Door! For all enquiries contact Rowan Wilkinson or Holly Appleton.

  Benjamin Francis Leftwich
