Special Notice: Due to the heat we will plan to start gardening at 8:30 this Saturday and finish about 10:00.

Hi Folks,
This week Erin added up our garden totals.  So far this year you have helped grow 2,939 pounds of fresh produce for local people in need.  .And that is not counting the over 300 pounds that our Wednesday crew harvested this week!  We can all be thankful to have the opportunity to help our community in such a needed way.this year.

And thank you Erin for adding up all those harvests!
Why can't I grow nice corn?
Every year Rob's favorite crop for us to grow is sweet corn.  I love sweet corn too but not as much as Rob.  I noticed that our small plots of corn never seemed to do as well.  After talking with my daughter and exploring the web I learned why.  Corn is  generally pollinated by wind blowing pollen from the tassel to the silk - but in small gardens you just don't get enough opportunities for that to happen.

Click on the picture below to watch a short video showing how to overcome that.

Rob, maybe we can try it this year?
