Equity in State Parks

Hi Friend-

Our Facebook Live series featuring California State Parks is in full swing, and I’d love for you to join the conversation about creating more opportunities for everyone to access our extraordinary open spaces.

Next Up – Año Nuevo State Park

Watch our Facebook Live at Año Nuevo State Park on July 29 for an exclusive look at how California State Parks has fostered a relationship with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. We will talk with Tribal Chairman Val Lopez and State Parks Archeologist Mark Hylkema about Año Nuevo's Native American history and how its rich variety of natural and cultural resources helped reunite an indigenous tribe to their ancestral homeland and restore land stewardship practices.

RSVP for Reclaiming Indigenous Roots: The Story of Año Nuevo on July 29 at 11 a.m. PDT.

In Case You Missed It – Los Angeles State Historic Park

Last week, Luis Rincon, community engagement coordinator, and Stephanie Campbell, acting program manager, of Los Angeles State Historic Park shared with us the unique history of this state park and how it offers access to parks for urban residents. You can watch it now on our Facebook Page

Save the Date – California State Parks

Mark your calendar for our conversation with Sedrick Mitchell, California State Parks’ deputy director of external affairs, on August 5 at 11 a.m. PDT. We’ll be chatting about how parks and recreation offer meaningful connections to communities. More details to come soon.

Please join us!

Sincerely,

Kindley

P.S. If this work matters to you, please donate to help us continue making our state parks more equitable.
