Water Safety Awareness applies to all, always.

The National Drowning Prevention Week from the Lifesaving Society started this week! The aim is to focus community and media attention on the drowning problem and drowning prevention that take place within our country.

Take the time to remember to wear your PFD's, attach the kill cord, and ensure to always have your eyes on the water!

Safety is more than a PFD ...

From observation, our sailing community is really good at wearing pfd's and of course it is listed as a requirement while racing.  But what about other safety issues? Does your club have first aid equipment? An AED?  Would you know how to use it?

In the event of a serious emergency who would you call and how long would it take for Emergency Responders to arrive on scene? Check it out next time you are at your club. Safety is everyone's responsibility

Covid continues ...

It seems communication these days just wouldn't be complete without some sort of reference to Covid-19. Given there has been a recent spike in reported cases in Alberta please remain aware of AHS' rules and recommendations. Once again here is a link:

We recently received a newsletter from Alberta Sport Council highlighting these following two points:

"Please note the changes that have been made to the document that may affect your organization"

1. Teams in different mini-leagues should not play each other. Athletes should not belong to multiple sports mini-leagues; they should select one sports cohort for the duration of Stage 2.

2Tournaments should not occur during Stage 2. Tournament formats do not reflect the concept of minileagues and generally require some participants to travel outside of their municipality.
