Dear Community Leader,

How are you? Are you back in the office or still social distancing at home like our team here at Vantage Point? We are eager to see everyone again, but in the meantime have launched a small Safety Task Force of staff, board, and Knowledge Philanthropists to develop a safety plan. Once they have identified the safest way for us to get back to in-person activities we will be setting that in motion.

However, we remain as busy as ever with new virtual programs rolling out, fresh sector development projects on the go, and virtual learning taking place even for our staff!

One exciting project is called Safety First. Partnering with the City of Vancouver, Vantage Point is working with a group of independent seniors' centers to navigate bureaucracies like the those specified by Health Authority and Worksafe BC. The goal is to create some relevant, tailored tools to help board, staff, volunteers, and clients feel confident to gather in-person again. We will keep you posted on when and how those tools are available.

Staff holidays are also underway. I hope you are finding time to take a break, rest up, and enjoy our gorgeous province!

Happy August,
Alison Brewin
Executive Director

Kudos for Capacity Lab!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Capacity Lab experience and appreciated your leadership and facilitation of our group. Even pre-Covid, our organization is small and a large part of my work is done alone. It was so energizing to be in the group and learn together. As a result of the capacity lab learnings, we've set our sights moving SCS into maturity - stop hiring generalists, become more specialized, and start charting out evaluation frameworks to assess our services/programs. As well as for me to become the 'organizational lead'/ED. - Jeanette Moss, Salsbury Operations Director, Salsbury Community Society
