Showing Up for Racial Justice:
Events and Resources

Town Hall #4 "What Now?"
World Wisdoms Project and Fort Collins Area Interfaith Council will be offering a fourth virtual town hall event in September to address the big question, "What now?" We are still in the planning stages, but you can look forward to spotlights of local community activists and agencies that are working toward racial justice. Look for an announcement of the date and time coming soon!

Black Is The Body: Stories From My Grandmother's Time, My Mother's Time, and Mine Book Study

First United Methodist Church member Sandy Merriweather will lead a six-week study of 12 deeply personal, connected essays by the African American author Emily Bernard starting in mid-August. NPR has said Bernard “proves herself to be a revelatory storyteller of race in America” in Black Is the Body: Stories from My Grandmother’s Time, My Mother’s Time, and Mine. Class members can choose to join the study via Zoom on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. beginning August 12 or on Saturdays at 11 a.m. beginning August 15. To register or for more information, contact David Reid at davidreid24@gmail.com or voice or text at 970-581-2707

Food Bank Update
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment has soared and food insecurity is on the rise. In fact, in 2020 more than 54 million people may face hunger because of coronavirus. We've already seen as much as a 20% increase at some of our Food Share sites, and we expect these trends to continue in the coming months. You can get involved and support our work by:

  •   Volunteering your time and talents to help us distribute food to those who need it most.
  •   Donating food or funds to help us procure food for our community.
  •   Growing extra fruits and vegetables in your garden to provide fresh, local foods for Food Bank clients. And so much more!

Join us at www.foodbanklarimer.org.
