Dear Orange Lutheran Families,
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mary Scott, Orange Lutheran’s new Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer! Dr. Scott began her tenure today after being selected in May 2019 following a nationwide search and unanimous approval from Orange Lutheran’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Scott previously served as the Head of School and Chief Executive Officer at Concordia International School in Shanghai, China for four years, overseeing over 1,310 Pre-K through 12th-grade students and an annual budget of $60 million. Prior to her time in China, Dr. Scott served at Concordia University Irvine for over 30 years in increasingly responsible positions, completing her tenure there as Provost and Executive Vice President.
Though today was her first official day, Dr. Scott has been helpful in Orange Lutheran’s navigation of the COVID-19 pandemic and graciously advised the Administrative and Response Teams behind-the-scenes. Her experience gained through Concordia Shanghai’s handling of the pandemic offered invaluable knowledge that will continue to inform the next steps in the successful operation of the 2020 - 2021 school year.
Dr. Scott has an impressive academic background that includes a Bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Chicago, a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Adelphi University, and a Doctor of Education in Institutional Management from Pepperdine University. In addition, she is a Commissioned Minister of Religion in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Dr. Scott and her husband, Dr. Dan Scott, have three daughters, and their youngest, Anna, will be a freshman at Orange Lutheran this fall. They are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Costa Mesa.
As Orange Lutheran begins its 47th year of ministry this fall, we look forward to Dr. Scott’s leadership and pray for her and her family.
