Hey RiverCross family!

Wednesday was an exciting day at RiverCross as families drove up to the church to pick up their box of supplies for our first Summer Camp.  Children also got to meet the leaders they will see in the videos, and got their picture taken in the photo booth.  Please be praying each day next week for this camp as the message of Christ will be going into homes all over our city!
Last Sunday saw people returning for in person services.  It was really great to be together, to visit and worship together in person.  If you would like to attend in person, then register online (if you do not have internet, you can call the office on Wednesdays).  Online registration opens each Thursdays starting at 9am, first come first served.   We did not fill up every available seat last week, so if you are wanting to attend, then simply register today
Tony Dickinson’s is offering online summer class based on NT Wrights popular book, Surprised by Hope.   It deals with questions about heaven, the resurrection, what happens when we die, do we go straight to heaven, and why does all this matter for how we live today.  It will be an online discussion, starting Tuesday, July 28 at 7 pm and run for 6 weeks.  Space is limited, so register soon from our church webpage.
Our Finance Committee has some exciting news to share: we have paid off the open portion of our mortgage!  We had two mortgages on our Forbes Drive facility, a closed one (not able to make extra payments), which still has $363,000 remaining, and an open mortgage.  We were able to pay off the open mortgage this week.  I want to thank everyone for their ongoing generosity, and would ask that as you are able, to continue your generosity through the summer months.  We are also upgrading our technology so that we can continue to serve people either in person or online and ministry is starting back up and therefore so are many expenses.  Check out how you can sign up for Pre-Authorized giving, or wanting to give using Interac e-transfers click here.

As we continue in our sermon series on the life of King David, let me suggest 3 books for your summer reading list:
  • Eugene Peterson’s Leap over a Wall. Peterson walks through David’s life and uses it to get us to think about our own lives.  If you enjoyed reading the Message translation of the Bible, you will enjoy this book.
  • Charles Swindoll, David.  A classic devotional read through David’s life.
  • Mark Buchanan’s David Rise.  Buchanan turns the David story into a novel, adding lots of creative details but gets you deep into the story.

Thanks and God bless … be praying for your neighbours and asking the Holy Spirit to show you ways you can be a blessing to the people in your life this summer!

God Bless,

Pastor Rob
