Next week, Schmidt Futures will engage stakeholders, leaders, and educators in a discussion about the most critical issues facing education. What will it take to safely reopen schools?

The baseline requirements for reopening colleges and universities are similar to those for reopening K-12 schools: The U.S. must contain the virus before students and faculty can safely return to campus. Rural Tech Project information session

Last month, the U.S. Department of Education launched the Rural Tech Project, a $600,000 challenge to advance rural technology education and prepare students for the careers of today and tomorrow. The Department invites high schools and local educational agencies to propose technology education programs that use competency-based distance learning.

By advancing technology skills development, rural communities can help their students prepare for rewarding career opportunities. This open innovation challenge, designed and produced by Luminary Labs, will empower educators with resources to create technology education programs that are customized for their students and local needs.

Eligible schools and local education agencies must submit proposals by October 8. Learn more on the Rural Tech Project website and register to attend the virtual information session on Tuesday, July 21.
