Kids Meal Distribution Returns
Starting Monday, July 20, Baltimore County Public Library is partnering with Maryland Food Bank and Baltimore County Government for meal distribution to children 18 years of age and younger. Kits include four to six breakfast and lunches and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Look for the Maryland Food Bank truck in the parking lots during the specified dates and times at the following branch locations:

Arbutus Branch
855 Sulphur Spring Rd, Arbutus, MD 21227
Tuesdays and Thursdays; 3 p.m.

Essex Branch
1110 Eastern Blvd, Essex, MD 21221
Mondays and Wednesdays; 3 p.m.

Hereford Branch

Mondays and Wednesdays; 4 p.m.

Lansdowne Branch
500 3rd Ave, Lansdowne, MD 21227

Free WiFi Available Seven Days a Week
Free WiFi is now available in all Baltimore County Public Library branch parking lots seven days a week. Please observe social distancing.

Free community WiFi access is also provided by bookmobiles from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during BCPS food distribution at the sites listed below. The bookmobile provides access to WiFi only. There is no staff assistance, materials to borrow or returns accepted.
  • Mondays at Dundalk Elementary
  • Tuesdays at Church Lane Elementary, Lansdowne High, Riverview Elementary, Westland Gardens Apartments
  • Wednesdays Berkshire Elementary, Owings Mills Elementary
  • Thursdays Chesapeake High, Hawthorne Elementary, Johnnycake Elementary
Curbside pickup continues at all open branches. Improvements have been made to phone lines to help with wait times. We appreciate your patience. To date, we have circulated over 94,000 items from our collection.

Pro Tip: Traffic tends to be heavier at the Pikesville, Cockeysville and Catonsville branches, creating longer wait times. You might want to consider picking up your holds from one of our other locations. Don't forget Arbutus and Perry Hall have drive-thru service for your convenience. 
Ibram X. Kendi on How to Be an Antiracist
Monday, July 20, 7 p.m.
Libraries across the state have partnered to present 2019 Guggenheim Fellow and New York Times bestselling author Ibram X. Kendi as he discusses his renowned book How to Be an Antiracist with Dr. Charlene M. Dukes, president of Prince George’s Community College. Dr. Dukes is the first African American woman to serve as president of the college and has 30 years of progressive leadership experience and administrative responsibility in higher education. The conversation is streamed live online on Crowdcast, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter/Periscope; it will air on PGCC TV on a later date. Join up with some of your fellow gamers online while playing Mario Kart 8. The multiplayer code to join is 3107-5302-3531, simply enter it in the field when prompted, after selecting multiplayer and tournaments in Mario Kart 8.

Pregnancy and COVID-19: What to Expect
Monday, July 20, 7 p.m.
Dr. David Ghadisha, regional chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology from MedStar Health, and Susanna DeRocco, project coordinator from Healthy Babies Collaborative – Community Health, present an informative discussion on pregnancy during COVID-19. Q&A session to follow. Registration closes one hour before the start of the program. Resume Workshop
Wednesday, July 22, 7 p.m.
Learn how to write a resume for today’s job market. This presentation covers general guidelines to have in mind when writing a resume as well as steps to follow to create a resume from scratch, or update an existing resume to help you get an interview. Registration closes one hour before the start of the program. A valid email address is needed at registration to send a Zoom link to the program 30 minutes before scheduled start.

Anti-Racism Story Time: How Racism Started and the Pursuit for Racial Justice
Thursday, July 23, 10 a.m.
​Join us for the next in our Anti-Racism Story Time series. ​​We share books, stories, songs, rhymes and activities about the history of racism and how people have pursued racial justice in the past.
