COVID-19 UPDATES

The Playground is Now Open!
As the province moved into Phase 3 of reopening we were able to open the playground in the Park! The Park, Beach and Upper Wharf are all fully open for use. Please continue to practice physical distancing.

Please also remember to use plastic containers or cans for your drinks when visiting the Park, Public Beach and Upper Wharf. Glass containers are easily broken and lead to safety and health hazards for the visitors to these popular Sturgeon Point locations.

LEAF DUMP
The Leaf Dump has been divided into three sections to promote the composting process and your cooperation is needed. We ask all SPA Members who use the Leaf Dump to remember to dump only leaves, not bags, and to dump in the designated sections as per the signs that have been installed.

All SPA Members are free to help themselves to the compost that is produced to help with your edible and decorative gardens!

Unfortunately, Phase 3 doesn't allow for gatherings like our beloved Civic Holiday Regatta Weekend. SPA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Civic Holiday Regatta, Races and BBQ due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. The events will draw crowds in excess of 100 people and we cannot ensure social distancing. Additionally, SPA would have the onerous task of check-ins, questionnaires and contact tracing details. It's simply beyond our scope.

As the province continues to to expand reopening and remove restrictions, we hope to be able to have an event for Labour Day.

SLSC will begin Sunday Afternoon Racing from July 26th to August 23rd. They will need a minimum of 4 boats (any type) for racing to be held on a particular Sunday. You don't have to commit to all Sundays. If you are planning on racing, please send an email to Ashleigh Stewart (ashleigh.stewart.b@gmail.com) by the end of day on the Friday before race day, indicating if you need to be assigned a boat and what type of boat you want. If they don't get enough racers, Ashleigh will send out an email on Saturday cancelling the racing for that weekend.

We also accept donations at any time of the year to money@sturgeonpoint.com - Donations of $50 or more will generate a tax receipt, which will be issued in the 1st quarter of the next tax year.

Please make note of the reason for your e-transfer before you send it by indicating "membership" or "donation" in the Memo portion of the e-transfer.
