Tisha B'Av Evening Service

Wednesday, July 29, 8:30pm

Tisha B’Av traditionally mourns the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and other calamities that have befallen our people and the world. This Tisha B’Av, we particularly mourn not only our ancient tragedies, but the human and communal losses of COVID-19. For our Tisha B’Av evening service we invite members to gather outside Temple Beth Israel, for a contemplative, physically distanced walk around the building, to acknowledge our own yearning and our people’s historic yearning for the holy spaces in which we gather and connect. After our walk, there will be a reading of Eicha/Lamentations, in the parking lot. Please brings masks and a cushion or chair to sit on.

If you know you're going to attend, please sign up below so we can have a sense of how many people may be here. Feel free to attend even if you don’t sign up in advance. The building will not be open, and there will be no restrooms available.

Please let us know your interests and ideas, and we will circle back with dates and times. These get-togethers will be complimentary experiences, all virtual, except for possible in-person Israeli dancing at a local park with Sheri.
