Issues and Trends Sparking Our Interest
This week we find ourselves embroiled in another volatile relationship with a social media platform. Last Monday Google announced the release of its newest product, Google+ Pages for business. And we are already in “deep like” with the new system. But will the relationship last? Right now, Google+ does not have the personality or likability of Facebook—and nowhere near the number of users, especially in the business pages. A recent search for businesses in Louisiana yielded few responses, mainly from colleges. Will it be able to attract new suitors? Only time will tell. In the meantime, we’ll continue to play the field. Check out Gallinghouse & Associates on Google+. |

The article by Lonnie Hirsch and Stewart Gandolf, MBA, “Our 3 Top Reasons Why Doctors Need to Keep an Open Mind About Social Media” in HealthcareSuccess.com provides useful information about how and why this medium is important. A doctor/patient relationship is just that—a relationship—and social media is an ideal way to strengthen the bond.

CAKE OF THE WEEK
Last week, Joanne Gallinghouse experienced first-hand the adage, "You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” Suffering from a stomach virus on the day of her birthday, she was unable to partake, so we graciously put away the birthday cake that creative director Cheryl Sohn had made for the occasion. When the illness lingered a few more days, it became a different story. Moist carrot cake with a delicate cream cheese icing, the letter “j” (or a question mark depending on your point of view) was made with orange sprinkles. We enjoyed it almost to the last crumb, but we did save her a little piece! |
