National Accelerator Indigenous Entrepreneurship - Fireweed Fellowship Program (Deadline - Monday, July 20)

The Fireweed Fellowship is the first national accelerator program for Indigenous entrepreneurship in Canada. The program will consist of a 10-month-long, immersive, cohort-style fellowship program combining online educational sessions, self-directed on-the-land learning and leadership development. Additionally, the program offers peer support, one-on-one coaching, mentorship, pro-bono professional services as well as investment-readiness prep. 

The first cohort of the Fireweed Fellowship will welcome 15-20 Indigenous entrepreneurs. Applications for this cohort is open to all Indigenous womxn (cis or trans) and non-binary folx, 2 Spirit, IndigiQueer, etc.

This program is for founders of businesses beyond idea-stage from diverse territories and across sectors from what is now known as Canada. The call for applications is open as of June 21st and will close on July 20th, 2020.

Innovate Calgary: Life Sciences Fellowship Informational Webinar


The LSI Hub welcomes Jim Wilson, Senior Manager - Talent Development, Innovate Calgary, to discuss and answer questions about the Life Sciences Fellowship Program, a full-time, two-year program that provides experiential learning in research and development (R&D) commercialization/startup creation for life sciences entrepreneurs.

Objectives: Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the program details including the application process with Jim, as well as to hear from current fellows experiencing the program.

Cleantech: Maximizing Funding Potential - Free Two-part Workshop Series

We realize that navigating the innovation ecosystem can be challenging. Finding the right funding organization and applying for funding can be equally difficult. The purpose of these workshops is to help connect innovators with the support they need to progress their technologies. You will learn about funding organizations, the application process and hear from project advisors, and greenhouse gas quantification specialists on what it takes to successfully navigate the system.

If you are a clean technology innovator curious about the differences between how organizations fund projects and ideas that deliver environmental and economic benefits, these workshops are for you.

Please note: completing this registration will grant you access to all Maximizing Funding Potential sessions.

Great Alberta Pitch Marathon (Pitch Deadline - July 26)

100 companies. 8 hours. A 'show and tell' marathon that showcases Alberta startups across all sectors and stages to a friendly audience.

An Alberta-wide event that provides hands-on pitching experience, exposure and peer-to-peer support for startups across all stages and sectors.

The event will be hosted on a massive Zoom call. Calgary and Edmonton companies from all stages and sectors will be showcasing their accomplishments and asking for support to solve their next challenge (~4 min per company). Each one-hour block will be co-hosted by a different service provider. The audience is encouraged to provide feedback, recommendations, and referrals.

Afterwards, we all get together (virtually) for Startup TNT! (6-9 PM on Discord)

Startups/Entrepreneurs - this is an opportunity to practise your pitch, get your startup in front of your community, gain exposure or get advice on how to move your business forward.

Investors/VCs/Service Providers/Supporters - this is your chance to scout new or emerging companies from across the province and offer support.

All - you're helping create a community of peer-to-peer support for our amazing Alberta startups!

Virtual Interview Boot Camp hosted by grassroots student collective (Miranda Stahn, Dinuka Gunaratne and Noor Al-Zanoon)



Join our panel of experts for two back to back events. The first event is a 20 min powerful learning sessions on key competences needed for a successful online interview. The first session "pitching yourself" focuses on how to describe and highlight your expertise in a compelling way. Not only do you have to know how to pitch yourself, but pitching yourself in style is the focus of our second session. With key tips on interview attire, video camera set up, and recruiter hacks, the second session will give you the confidence to tackle your next interview. Finally, our third session brings to light much-needed tips on body language and facial expressions with the aim of translating non-verbal communication through video. The second event involves putting it all into practice!
