Dear Friends of Clare County Arts Council,

I forgot to add this class to my last update. CCAC member, Linda Thompson is offering a collage painting class. It will be held on July 28 & 29 from 2-6. Cost is $25. Linda will supply everything. She will bring a canvas and materials to create a one of a kind picture for you to take home. You do not have to stay the whole time. You will be able to come and go as you please. You may also finish in one day. Please call Carol at 989.386.3925 to register.

If you have not drove by the Clare Union Railroad Depot, you are missing a real treat. "Return" the conductor done by local artist, Jeff Best now adorns the Depot.  

CCAC is sponsoring Gabe Couch this Thursday starting at 6 pm at Shamrock Park. Free admission. Come and enjoy this concert.

Also on Saturday, the Venue at 501 is having their Morning Market. This is held from 9-1 at 501 McEwan in Clare. Come support local vendors. 

On Saturday in the afternoon, head on out to the Clare County Historical Society from 1-4. They are holding their 50 Anniversary. There are many activities planned. 
 

Just a reminder the following artist have their work on display at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. CCAC is offering 20% off until the end of July. Stop by Monday through Friday 10-4 to see their work and support local artists.

Collage Painting
Linda Thompson will offer a Collage painting class. It will be held on July 28--29 from 2-6. Cost is $25 which includes all materials. Please call Carol to register.

Clare Summer Concert Series

will be held at Shamrock Park from 6-8. Here is a list of the bands.

Morning Market at 501
This was a popular event last year. Local vendors will be selling their goods. Due to social distancing, there will not be as many vendors, but it will be a great event. Dates are: July 25, August 29 and September 12. It will be held from 9-1 and located at 501 McEwan Street, Clare 

Clare Historical Society Museum
On July 25, the Museum will be celebrating their 50 year of operation. Currently the museum is open Saturdays from 1-4. You can tour the museum, Dover schoolhouse, Ott Family Log Cabin and see a working blacksmith. There is no admission charge. The Museum is located at the corner of Dover and Eberhart Roads northeast of Clare.


Sunflower Days
Will be held at the Wild Pumpkin Patch located on Beaverton Road on September 5 & 6, 12 & 13 from 10-7. Admission is $5 a person. Their regular season will begin on September 19 and go until October 31. Their hours will be 10-7

Mary Carole Oil Painting Seminar
will be held on October 5th-11 at the Doherty Hotel in Clare. On October 4 starting at 4, Mary Carole will be doing a free painting demonstration. 
Starting October 5-7 you will paint the "Painted Pony" (16 x 20) and Girl and Ducks (16 x 20). Cost $255
October 8-11 will be a four day portrait seminar. Cost $255.

Pere Marquette Library
Has Children's Grab & Go crafts. Stop by the front desk to pick up. There is a limited supply.


The Global Art of Head Wrapping
Will be held virtually through the Pere Marquette Library on August 4 from 3:30-4:30. contact the library to register. 

Card making with Carol H
will be held at the Pere Marquette Library on July 30 at 1 pm. Cost is $10 to make 6 Cards. Preregister at the Library. 

Harrison Community Library
Basket making with Kathy will be held on July 22 from 10-1 and 2-5. Sign up is required. 

Tiny Fairy tales with Music Lady will be at virtually on July 21 at 3:30. This is offered through the Harrison Community Library. 

Pere Marquette Library Book Club
The next meeting will be July 28 starting at 5:30 The book is "The Book of Lost Friends" by Lisa Wingate. 

Mid Michigan Art Reach 
Art Walk Central is still scheduled to be held August 3 to August 22. Local artist, Jeff Best will be displaying the Conductor which was commissioned by the Clare County Arts Council. Bob Guiliani will have his "Grizzly Bears" photo at Isabella Bank. If you are a CCAC member and will have your art displayed, please let me know so I can share. 

Harrison City Market
Now open and currently looking for vendors. They are open Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 12-3. The Market is located at 121 E Main Street, Harrison. Please call Debbie at 989.330.9561 for more details.

Mid Michigan College 
DIY Decor
Will be held August 11 at 2 pm at the Harrison Campus. You will learn to upcycle your furniture. Cost is $65. 

DIY Decor
You will be using chalk paint and wax to upcycle a piece of furniture. This will be held on August 25 at 5:30. Cost is $65. 


September 15, from 5:30-8:30 you will paint a Mason Jar painting. Cost is $35.

Understanding Your Digital SLR Camera
Classes scheduled for July 30, Aug. 5 and Aug. 13
Cost $65 and will be held at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. 

To complete the assignments you will need your own camera for this class, the camera should be digital. The instructor is long time award winning professional photographer, Bob Guiliani. He and his wife, Linda, own Guys & Dolls Photography in Clare. To register or if you have questions, please contact Bob at 989.240.3644.  

More Shoot Get Creative Part 2

Now that you’ve pushed that button, what’s next? During this two hour seminar Bob will discuss techniques to improve your phone photography. He will also demonstrate various apps that add enhancements and creativity to your images. Participants should bring their phone cameras so to try many of the examples Bob will show.

The instructor is long-time, award-winning professional photographer, Bob Guiliani. He and his wife, Linda, own Guys & Dolls Photography in Clare.

Connecting with Artist
I received this letter about Connecting with Artist from Chris Sherman. I do not know anything about this, but thought I would pass it along.


"We're inviting artists, local arts agencies, cities, chambers, state agencies, and non-profit organizations across the country to come together to encourage consumers to shop with artists and craftsmen. Participation is free.

Artists Sunday is an art-focused shopping day the first Sunday after Thanksgiving. It follows Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, the day before Cyber Monday, the largest shopping weekend of the year. Details can be found at

Quilt Block Painting
CCAC is once again offering you the opportunity to paint your own 2 x 2 quilt block. This class will be from noon to 1 on October 13.  You will have the choice of two designs and four colors to choose from. Cost is $50 which includes all your materials. Call Vicky to register at 989.289.8235

Craft Show
CCAC has scheduled a craft show for Oct. 31, to be held at the Clare Union Depot. 

Please continue to support the arts in Clare County including various events and activities by sending in your donation for 2020.  We ask for $10, an amount unchanged from past years but appreciate the many generous donations we receive over and above that amount.

Please mail your check made out to the Clare County Arts Council to CCAC at P.O. Box 412, Clare, MI 48617. 

The Arts Council is in the lower level of the Clare Depot, which is also the home of the Clare County Chamber of Commerce. We are located at 201 W. Fourth St. in the City of Clare, one block west of McEwan.
