Dear Friends

This month we have a new “share your insights” survey to help shape our work going forward, to understand our community and their experiences better and to form part of our storytelling about what we do and how we do it. We invite you to contribute with 1 – 5 minutes of your time by clicking on the link below.

We also share about Daniel Ng's recent fundraiser that he held for us, thanks Daniel!

Our new video is out - this month we are sharing a calming breathing practice that you can try if you like. For more details, see below.

Smokey took some time out of his busy schedule to do a photo shoot recently, the shots are stunning. Thanks to Boshi Wang for the photography!

If you'd like some help to learn a breathing or relaxation exercise with someone - call our free 24/7 helpline 0800 ANXIETY (0800 269 4389).

Take care

The Anxiety NZ team

Share your thoughts?

The team here at Anxiety New Zealand would like to take stock of what we are doing and ensure it is helping you. We have a brief, anonymous survey that we would love to invite you to participate in.

Any data from this survey is held only by Anxiety NZ (using Survey Monkey). No personal or contact details are required. You will have the option of providing your first name, or asking us to contact you to talk in person. This is completely optional.

The survey results will help shape our work going forward, to understand our community and their experiences better and to form part of our storytelling about what we do and how we do it.

Breathing Practice

In this month's brand new video we share a breathing practice that is balancing and calming. It is called Alternate Nostril Breathing, or Nadi Shodana Pranayama. It's a yogic breathing technique that is said to be good for relaxing our body and mind, decreasing anxiety, promoting wellbeing, decreasing stress and more. You can do it prior to a meditation practice, before bed, during a work break - or really anytime you like. If you give it a go, let us know how you like it.

August A-Z Join us!

August A-Z on our Instagram page is here! Throughout August we will be posting an A-Z education on anxiety and wellbeing. For every letter of the alphabet, we will be sharing content to educate you, your friends and whanau about everything surrounding the topic of anxiety. Be sure to tag, comment and share our posts to spread the word.

Just a Thought...

Have you checked out the really cool resource Just a Thought? We love finding cool resources and sharing them with you, and this one is awesome. It is all about staying on track during Covid-19. This free "course will teach you how to support your mental and emotional health through learning how to look after your worry and choose behaviours that will help you and your whānau stay on track."

There are also downloadable resources like a 3-minute breathing practice and a muscle relaxation audio.

Shave a lot, raise a lot!

We want to say a big thank you to Daniel Ng who shaved his head to raise awareness and some much needed funds for Anxiety New Zealand.

"Mental health is something people often try fight alone; we should not be fighting alone. With recent events that have occurred through-out the world, I would like to get behind this. This is a small thing I would like to do to contribute to Anxiety New Zealand, an organisation that provides support, education and financial aid for those who are dealing with mental illness."

Daniel raised $565 for us, thanks so much Daniel!!

If you wanted to create your own fundraiser or learn more, you can do so here.
