Last week I met with the Saskatoon Inn and the contractors doing the audio / visual work for our upcoming Fall Conference on September 11th & 12th here in Saskatoon. At this point we can have up to 150 people attend this event live since we will be using all three ballrooms to accommodate a world class trade show and AGM.
I communicated with all of our potential speakers, met on a phone call with SGI, answered numerous queries from our members as best as I could, signed up some new members and sat in on Dave Luehr’s Operations Monthly Live - which by the way, if you want to know how to run a 21st century process based collision facility that doesn’t own you, this is something you need to check out.
I had thrown out the invitation to get a group of Saskatchewan based shops to become one of Dave’s Mastermind Groups, but I only had 3 three shops express interest in doing it, such a shame! To make it worthwhile we would need about 10 shops that totally want to take control of their business. C'est la vie.
We have a new member that is offering a unique service for body shops, his name is Rod Jackson, and here is what he does:
We clean exhaust stacks and booths for 60 percent of manufacturing and auto body shops in Manitoba. I have recently had interest from numerous Saskatchewan businesses wondering if we could come out to clean their booths. I have 28 years’ experience in the industry, so we are professional and accountable. Our plan is to come to Saskatchewan in the middle of August to clean stacks for various body shops in Saskatchewan. If interested please drop me a line, So I can answer any questions that you may have.
All work can be performed after hours, So there is no down time to production for our customers.

Adhesive Templates Canada - Technical Bulletin
July 14, 2020
Part# 84682662
Description – X31
Details – The red coloring on the OEM nameplate softened up and lost adhesion to the nameplate after it had soaked overnight in Blue Bear 280AH
Recommendation – avoid immersing nameplate in Blue Bear. Either have only a thin layer of Blue Bear in the soaking tray so that only the original adhesive comes in contact with the Blue Bear, or use a traditional method to remove old adhesive such as razor blade or eraser wheel.

Thank you to all that responded to last week's survey on the SGI Accreditation program. It is only through mechanisms like this that we can get consensus on issues like SQARP to help SGI make informed decisions.
Based on the survey SGI is in a tough spot. No matter what decision they make, somebody is going to be unhappy. I know they have a meeting next week with Sask Polytechnic and the I-CAR welding instructors to plan a strategy to get shops trained up in time for the March 2021 deadline so let’s see how things pan out.
In closing I am looking forward to the latest results of the SAAR / AutoHouse KPI program which should be available sometime this week. What is interesting about this report is that represents the months of April through June - the heart of the COVID interruption. It should be very interesting to see how shops have managed with a reduced workload and doing their own estimates from start to finish. Watch for it in the next newsletter!
In today’s world, an employee health plan is an essential part of any company’s compensation package. It is one of the first things good employees look for in an employer.
The ARA plan offers a full range of coverage selection to suit your individual needs. Rates are kept low and stable as the plan is self-administered by the ARA. The large size of the plan pool of members ensures small and mid-size companies gain the same advantage in rates as those of a large company.
