Kaylene's Creations
Our wonderfully creative Kaylene has been busy knitting beanies, neck warmers, drink bottle holders and toastie toe warmers. They will be on sale at the next Recovery Camp, we are very thankful to Kaylene for all your hard work and time and for sharing your wonderful creations with Recovery Camp.

Kaylene wrote a story about the antics of her creations, the following is an excerpt from her marvellous story that Kaylene has given us permission to share with you:

"The beanies in my custody were tired of being in lock down so they wanted a beanie party and were going to invite some friends, toastie toes and cuddly neck warmer. The drink holders heard about it and crashed the party... Well, they are all excited now as its Party time again and hope to see everyone at RECOVERY CAMP again." 🏘♨️🎈

Rally's Recovery Rules

"Getting enough sleep helps reduce stress, improves memory and lowers blood pressure. Aim for 8 hours of sleep each night.

Why not try to build a routine around going to your stable, I mean bed, at the same time each night? You might not win the Melbourne Cup but your mood and state of mind will be improved!

RC Family in Focus: Craig

A little birdy told us that Craig had his 50th Birthday on 12 June.
Happy Birthday, Craig!

Q. What is your favourite activity at camp?
A. Rock climbing.

Q. When you're not at camp, what do you like to do?
A. I like to play golf when I have some time at home, and go out with my support workers for a cup of coffee. I like going to the driving range a hitting a few balls with my carers.

Q. What is your nicest RC moment?
A. Tom, (one of the YMCA trainers from a few years ago), we got along very well and when he left he came back to visit me. He's a policeman now.

Q. What have you learned about yourself at RC?
A. I've learned how to sell merchandise at the camp. I am quite good at it, I got an award. I love doing it, I actually enjoy doing it and get a lot out of it.

Q. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. Meat-lovers pizza from Dominos.

Thank you Craig for being such a wonderful part of the RC family.

Learning from Lived Experience:
Impact

Experiences of living with mental ill-health are transformed into meaningful education moments which empower consumers, boost self-confidence and assist recovery. Be inspired by resilience.

"I remember feeling sad and disappointed in their experiences and interactions with nurses and my view on mental health being challenged and completely transformed. Their stories have inspired me to be a better nurse and person by listening, displaying empathy, and demonstrating compassion towards everyone. Recovery camp was an educational and valuable experience that I would encourage others to participate in as it allowed me to meet new people, step out of my comfort zone and gain confidence while also expand my knowledge and skills around mental health."
