The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, 

searching all his innermost parts. 

Today is the 20th proverb, so you’re ⅔ of the way through the entire book.

Innermost is Intimacy

This morning we sat on the couch drinking coffee, talking about what we were going to write from this masterpiece of Chapter 20. 

And all of a sudden, we were talking about our own life and how Proverbs 20 accuses us and calls us to change. 

It worked!

Because we are under the authority of the Bible, and it can tell us when we are wrong, we experienced something from our “innermost parts”. 

It was powerful, meaningful, and brought us closer.

If you fall out of touch with your spouse, it’s not because you quit talking, but likely because you quit talking about meaningful content. 

Here’s 3 places to get meaningful content:

1. Read the Bible together

2. Go to church together

3. Pray for other people together

Kids, schedules, and bills are pressing conversations, but they don’t bring you any closer together. 

Those are conversations for a business meeting. 

Connecting from the innermost parts requires better content.
