CBS Sunday morning is quickly becoming a valuable source of innovation journalism. I suspect this is due to Nicholas Thompson joining the room, and the incredible team there. I particularly enjoyed their story on workplace innovation – here is a short snippet from Sarva's comments, but the whole segment is worth a watch.

A great long read from HBR on the implications of distributed work during the pandemic, including data point from Ben Waber at Humanyze.
 
An examination of data by Humanyze from email, chat, and calendar systems across a global technology company supports our survey results. It revealed that the workday significantly increased at the beginning of all-virtual work: In the weeks immediately after the lockdown began, only half of employees were able to maintain a 10-hour workday or less, whereas nearly 80% had been able to do so previously. These patterns have started to trend back to pre-lockdown levels, although the workdays are still 10% to 20% longer on average.

I discovered this link by way of Sylvain Labs’ excellent Progress Report newsletter, section 03 was by Ilana Bondell.

 



Zoom is launching a few hardware offerings. Zoom for Home, is targeted at the home office, and Hardware as a Service (PDF) is presumingly geared for our gradual and staggered return to the office, with alternating days of attendance.

It is interesting to ask ourselves: is the line between B2B and B2C blurring?

When you buy one of these Zoom for Home devices, are you thinking more about its utility of the pleasure of looking at it every day? Is it awe or robustness?
 


Tom (Manuel Creative, a friend and collaborator) and I have had a little exchange on Twitter which got me thinking.
 

How is the concept of heritage brands different in the US compared to Europe? I would love your input on this model in progress.
