Last night we heard from all candidates for Macon-Bibb Board of Education District #1 and County Commission Districts #5 and #7.
The third in our series of candidate forums, Georgia Women, along with League of Women Voters Macon, and Macon (GA) Chapter of the Links, Inc. hosted a virtual event, live streamed to Facebook and recorded for distribution through Georgia Women's YouTube channel.
Despite the wifi challenges of having 12 different locations from which we broadcast, the evening was a success and the people of Macon-Bibb experienced a unique and singular opportunity to hear from those who wish to lead us.
The evening was divided by runoff race, with the first segment featuring the two candidates for Board of Education District #1 (Myrtice C. Johnson and Tera Edwards). The middle segment included the two candidates for County Commission District #5 (Seth Clark and Carlton Kitchens), and in the last segment we heard from County Commission District #7 candidates (Bill Howell and Bonnie Thompson.)
The evening was expertly moderated by Liz Jarvis Fabian, Civic Reporting Senior Fellow with the Center for Collaborative Journalism at Mercer.
Special Appreciation is due to our newly crowned Zoom Goddess, Rachel Gambill, for her tireless volunteer efforts throughout this forum series. Rachel has given many hours of preparation time for the events, in addition to volunteering during the three forums.
